This great app by ktemkin is not new but it´s worth to bring it back.
Android user have the tapatalk app for xda but there’s not much available for the Windows Mobile crows. So what could be better than a special app to browse xda developers on your Windows Mobile phone? With this app you can see xda in a great format, which is specially adjusted to fit mobile screens, no need to open your browser to navigate, post, download or upload to xda!

XDA users no longer have to deal with the hassle of using an inefficient browser to view the forum which provides the liveblood of their devices. Now, the Mobile XDApp gives you options to help eliminate load times and increase your productivity as you view fourms, read and reply to posts, start new threads, upload files, download files, manage your account and more!
Features:

Complete Features:

  • Dynamic multi-screen rendering library supports any screen of any size, shape, and DPI. Tested and works on QVGA, WVGA, VGA, and Square VGA. Theoretically should work with much larger screens, including large-screen RedFly devices/software.
  • GZIP compression, which decreases load times by more than 80%. That’s more efficient than Opera Mini! See below for compression statistics.
  • Full, automatic authentication protocols mean you never have to waste time logging in again!
  • Automatic server-side thumbnailing of images for much reduced image transfer.
  • Unique ‘superheader’ view organizes forums, making it easier to navigate the forums!
  • Near-complete features:
  • Edit your posts.
  • Pre-fetching allows commonly viewed threads to load when you first start the app, completely eliminating load times later.
  • Extensible external framework will allow other applications to utilize its features: e.g. allow a user to directly post a bug-report, complete with attached memdump, to a developer’s thread.

Do you think your GPS takes ages to get it´s location?, after installing the GpsModDriver you can get at fix in about 30 seconds. Member Mach2003 presents this updated fix that works in older devices as well.

This Driver installs between your gps application and the GPSID driver that reads the hardware gps data.
Lag is compensated, by guessing your position ‘some number’ of milliseconds in the future, current course and speed changes are included in the guess.
It corrects for invalid data in the gps strings, Out of range DOP values, and Heading values of ‘NaN’ (Not A Number). Position, Speed, and course are reported, even though the distance traveled is less than 30 meters.

Hardware Compass Support information is in Post Number two.
NEW DRIVER version 2.4

  • Enabled Sat display when unfixed GPS is being read
  • Changed when and why I send Cell Tower, Last Known or Live GPS data
  • Added support for installation to external storage
  • Fixed “logFile.txt” creation bug
  • Enabled MSAPI by default on Cab install when save settings is not used (or on new installations)

External Card Storage

  • If the card is removable, installing a device driver to it is just a BAD idea, don’t do it!
  • My attached shortcuts don’t work, make your own or edit mine.
  • Your card may not be avalable during boot, so driver may not autoload.
  • Driver will take londer to load, so phone will take longer to boot.
  • ModSettings will take longer to load
  • Uninstall is not as perfect, but still works fine, except it is possible that the dll on the card may not be removed if it is in use at the time.
  • Did I say don’t install to a card unless you have to?

Do you want to use the Rhodium and Topaz photo albums on your older device? Member programatix gives you the chance to do so, check out this article and his thread to enjoy this well finished ad-on for your VGA device.

These are Album 3.2 from Rhodium S2 and Topaz S2 roms. Please use related HTC Menu Enhancement, else menu displayed in Album will have graphical glitch. Also, the zooming in/out using Raphael’s SmartTouch is working smoothly.

Note
G-Sensor Autorotation or any 3rd party autorotation must be disabled for Album because Album handle the autorotation on its own.
The dll has been patched to relocate the menu for WM6.5 with large soft buttons. If you are using WM6.5 with classic UI, please use the unpatched dll from Topaz S2 or Rhodium S2 rom.

To do
Fix the “Albums” selection. Currently it is still WVGA.
Fix image position when opened by tapping on the photo in Manila’s Photo tab.

The popularity of Opera Mini has grown fast since it has been launched for the iphone, for those of you already familiar with this great browser, optyqus created an all in one cab of the latest version.

Trying to make things easier with Opera Mini 5 java (as the native WM Opera Mini is still beta and has some issues), I created a cab which spares you of headaches. I’m aware that there are other similar project in the forums, but this one is a little bit different.

This cab contains:

  • latest Esmertect Jbed Java (20090506) (credits to Agrab)
  • Opera Mini 5 final, presigned – it will ask you permissions only the first time, as you’re able to select “Yes, don’t ask again” option
  • Mortscript 2.5 and a connection script- this will automatically initialize your default internet connection when clicking the Opera Mini shortcut, thus saving some seconds of waiting times.

Instructions:

  • If you already have Opera Mini 5 installed and don’t want to loose your data (bookmarks, quicklinks), before installing my cab go to Opera Mini>Settings, click Opera Link and create an account (this is fast and easy). Than login and synchronize your data.
  • Install the right cab for your device (it will automatically install into internal memory)
  • Perform a reboot, to allow registry updating.
  • Enter Opera Mini>Settings>Opera Link, login and synchronise your data.

qtek_9000_upgrade

XDA member thingonaspring is a very well known person in the Universal forums, and now he has updated his great 6.1 ROM, but this time he has included Real VGA! The upgrade includes, amongst other things, great stability improvements, it seems this great device is still alive!

A lot has changed for this version, that’s why it’s jumped a bit to v2.x.

ROM changes for v2.3

  • Reorganised XIP. Crypt32.dll moved to IMGFS (saving 460kb RAM), wince.nls moved to XIP (losing 260kb RAM). Net gain 200kb of physical RAM and a nice speedup from wince.nls being loaded into XIP
  • Modified boot registry to load devicestacks more intelligently (saving RAM) and restricted some core drivers to remain in pagepool and link exclusively to device.exe (much faster and should save some power)
  • Hardware Buttons tweaked, added voice record on press+hold record, wirelessmgr on light button and assigned proper icons to all buttons
  • Fix added for some situations where STK wouldn’t work
  • Added sensible delay to up/down slider
  • Hidden encryption control panel, it’s not supported so there’s no point seeing it
  • Hidden error reporting control panel, not supported
  • Fixed LZX compression in the kitchen
  • Downsized today backdrop to save some ram (it’s now 4 tiles instead of one big image)
  • Added call recording option to phone, just select “record” during phone conversation
  • Rebuilt bluetooth support using drivers from HTC Athena, registry settings overhauled, A2DP works much better now. It may jump when a headset is first connected. Just disconnect/reconnect to fix this.

ROM changes for v2.21

  • FingerKB updated with multi-language support and a different skin (again by giannis86). Skin graphics optimised to 8-bit BMP to save resources.
  • FingerKBConfig now works, goto Settings->input->options and select input languages, configure smileys and all that good stuff.
  • AE Buttons plus now supported due to a slightly different keyboard driver. Tested with backlight button launching 3 seperate apps depending on how many times the button is pressed.

Member thingonaspring made an important upgrade to his WM6.1_21127 v2.0 ROM for Universal

A lot has changed for this version, that’s why it’s jumped a bit to v2.0.

The kitchen’s been rebuilt extensively to support bepe’s platformrebuilder. The new kitchen adds the following handy features :-

- includes a proper XIP kitchen that re-cooks the XIP section on each build, allowing for more flexibility in the rom layout, if you’re into that kind of thing.
- relocation code is much improved, meaning modules are now stripped of useless sections and better allocated to WM6.1′s available virtual memory slots. Smaller, faster, better.
- suports newer “EXT” type kitchen addons, just place them in EXT folder and build.
- can support WM6.5. Which is nice.
- support for XPR compression as well as the Unis default LZX. XPR is a lot quicker to decompress, so it’s especially handy on 64mb machines that swap stuff in and out of pagepool a lot. It doesn’t compress as well as LZX though, that’s why the roms look bigger. XPR compresion was adapted from TPC’s Kaiser kitchen, so props to him.
- when building a rom with the kitchen you will now make 2 choices, memory size and compression type. After that the kitchen builds automatically up to the usual encoding app.

Changes for v2.0 :-
- both 64 and 128 roms use XPR compression – much faster than Uni’s default LZX
- all modular exe/dll/cpl/mui/tfx/plg components have useless sections stripped thanks to bepe’s platformrebuilder. This saves ram, virtual memory and other resources
- mp3dmod and msdmo dlls included to allow support for apps that use them (pocketplayer and google’s youtube app, probably others too).
- AKU bug fixed to make Market work properly (thanks responderman)
- Drivers completely rebuilt. I had no choice, PlatformRebuilder crashed while building the old driverset as most of the modules were pre-stripped. I’ve also made an attempt to fix some audio choppiness in A2DP, but it’s difficult to test as my A2DP headset is very bad at A2DP. Handsfree is definitely working fine.
- Smaller wince.nls used to save ROM+RAM
- Yet more unused files and modules removed.
- Opera Mini 5 added. This version runs native, unlike previous java-based opera minis. It’s a very fast browser with low memory footprint (about 6mb with a single tab).
- yet more memory freed up for 64mb users

64mb versiom has 4.0mb Pagepool. 33 Mb free RAM on clean boot with 200+contacts and appointments synced)
128mb version has pagepooling disabled
Flash Disk enabled
Extended ROM enabled

Removed :-
- Windows Media Player (TCPMP integrated to replace WMP)
- Office OneNote
- Customer Satisfaction (SQM)
- FirmwareUpdate
- Catalog
- Entertainment (games)
- Transcriber
- Getting started
- Bootsplash/welcome images
- MP3 ringtones not supported.
HTC’s ringtone extension takes up a lot of space in ROM and it’s very slow to load. Convert ringtones to wav instead

Included :-
- Opera Mini 5 native WM version
- TCPMP 0.72 recomp3 fully integrated to replace Windows Media. Suports WMA/WMV/FLV/FLAC/OGG/DIVX/MP3……. Uses hybrid plugins from 0.72 and 0.81 for best performance
- PocketNotepad
- PocketRAR
- AdobePDF Reader 2.5
- No2Chem’s USB to PC usb mass storage driver
- No2Chem’s neuPowerCpl replaces backlight settings, power control panel and adds some nice options.
Note that it won’t display advanced usage stats (batt temp etc) as no neuBattery driver exists for uni.
- Dutty’s SDHC driver package (tested with 2/4/8/16gb)
- PimBackup
- JWright’s Network Plugin (mount windows shared drives over wifi/activesync)
- TaskManager 3.1
- TotalCommander 2.5.1
- Windows Live 10.7
- Remote Desktop Client
- Office Mobile
- PNG/GIF graphics optimised for size where possible.

This rom has no bootsplash screens, so you will see a black screen on boot, followed by a white screen.
Tap the white screen to begin using the device on 1st boot.

Drivers, XIP section, registry, pagepool and filesystem have all been optimised for speed and RAM.

Every single EXE, DLL, MUI, CPL and plugin has been made into a module – with the exception of .NET libs (can’t be modular) and one or two specific DLLs/EXEs that will not execute in modular form. Again this saves memory an 64mb machines and speeds up access to executables.
