Universal MIUI Theme Editor

MIUI Theme Editor

One of the biggest appeals of Android—aside from it being open source—is the ability to customize every aspect to get a completely individual and unique experience. Users and developers alike have used countless tools, ROMs, themes, modifications, and whatever else they can get their hands to customize their Android experience.

MIUI users running Windows now have another tool, with which to customize Android. XDA Forum Member Clever_Name_Here has released a PC based tool that will allow the average user to theme their MIUI ROM manually. The Theme Editor includes a number of features, including the ability to change things like the splash screen, boot animation, re-sizing and editing icon. . . READ ON »

DianXin OS; A Unique Android-Based Chinese OS

boot_00009

There is a new ROM that’s looking to make that very exclusive “all phones must have it” list. Say hello to DianXin OS, or DX OS as it’s being referred to. As XDA Senior Member qtwrk will tell you:

i know you guys may think it looks like MIUI , but i asure you it’s totally different ROM nor MIUI-based modification.

As with MIUI, it’s based in Asia, so the ROMs available to try currently still have some translation to go through and are only available on a couple of devices. Namely, the GSM and CDMA versions of the Samsung Galaxy S.

The people who are working on it currently are the aforementioned qtwrk on the GSM model and XDA Senior Member swamp goblin, who ported it to the CDMA versio. . . READ ON »

T-Mobile LG G2x Receives MIUI Port

miui-devs-twitter

It’s always good news when a device gets MIUI. Along with CyanogenMod, it’s among the most popular ROMs out there and a “must have” for pretty much any Android device.

The Chinese ROM has found it’s newest home under the hood of the T-Mobile LG G2x thanks to XDA Junior Member stormageddon, who was kind enough to port it over from the LG Optimus 2X.

The features are pretty standard for an MIUI ROM and include a couple others:

*All features of Official MIUI
*Wi-Fi Calling (Yes it works!)
*Zipalign and Permission scrips by Team Kang
*Trinity Kernel by morfic

There is also a 2nd build with a different kernel in case you’re more into overclocking your CPU than you are saving on batte. . . READ ON »

MIUI Makes Its Way to the Kindle Fire

10811486_img_20120101_113457

We all knew it would be happening soon, as the AOSP ROMs are essentials for most new phones and tablets and the Amazon Kindle Fire is the latest and greatest device that MIUI calls home and the development of the Amazon Kindle Fire remains on fire (bad pun ftw!).

XDA Senior Member leech2082 released the port which, for a first release, has a surprisingly low number of things not working in comparison to most ports that make first appearances on devices. According to him:

Everything seems to be working except MIUI Themeing and Video! Certainly you guys will find something I missed

So if MIUI theming and video are a couple of things you can live without and MIUI is something you’ve been waiting for, then now would . . . READ ON »

Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 Receives MIUI Port Based on CM7

Samsung-Galaxy-SL-i9003-official

In the spirit of the now passed holiday, XDA Senior Member fuss132 has brought the Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 a little post-Christmas magic in the form of a MIUI port.

The port is working pretty well, with a very short list of things not working so far and it’s still, as fuss132 puts it,

like 70% CM7 and 30% MIUI.

So it’s not a pure MIUI release just yet and it is still in the testing stage. If you happen to check it out, the known issues are:

GPS not working
Sometimes Kernel anic (Just remove Battery and reboot)
Tethering
Hot Spots
Some Miui Apps not working: Miui Stats, Miui Settings (so CM7 Settings included)
Video recording with Camera in very bad quality

And, of course, here’s your list of things that d. . . READ ON »

MIUI Theme Bonanza!

m_1303897085424

MIUI is something that I don’t feel gets enough attention here on XDA. As an MIUI user, as of yesterday, I now understand what our own Chad Hughes of XDA TV meant when he said “it’s as close as it comes to an OS replacement”. Disregarding the speed and stability of this type of ROM, something fun to do with it is to play with the theme engine, much like Cyanogen Mod’s.

XDA memberĀ krunalkp has put together a fantastic thread in which he attempts to update daily with some of the best MIUI themes. My personal favourite is ‘New Jeans’, but there are quite a few to choose from. Why don’t you tell me which is your favourite down below?

This collection of themes really shows . . . READ ON »
