We all love our Android and Windows Phone 7 devices because they are wonderful pieces of technology that can do pretty much everything that we can do on a computer. However, we don’t have to forget that these great platforms are standing on the shoulders of a dying giant called Windows Mobile. This platform paved the way for what we currently have as smooth, multi-purpose devices. One use that we can give to these devices is for video editing and XDA member manhab points us to an app that has been dormant in our forums for quite sometime. The app was specifically made for VGA, but the dev brings it to us in a compatible version for QVGA devices. The app is called TrakAx and has been provided in the thread for those . . . READ ON »

For those of you on Windows Mobile devices and using the classic S2U2 app by XDA member A_C, there are many themes available.
More recently, since the introduction of Android, we have seen more themes based on the popular OS and here are some funky Android clocks by XDA member ayy3um.
The clocks are in 24 hour format, although the XDA member has also provided the A/P/M png files for the clocks in a separate attachment. The clocks come in orange, white and black and the sliders, notification icons, system icons and wallpapers are also available to download.
Additionally included is an Android analog clock by XDA member frambo88.

Do you think Windows Mobile development has stopped? Well, perhaps it has slowed down but it is still active. Proof of that is the Windows Phone 7 style Idialer presented by XDA member 72ls1. This one is specially for the good old QVGA Windows Mobile devices. It includes speed dial, portrait and landscape dialers, and call progress screens. Now you can have the look and feel of the newer operating system on your device on this nicely designed application.

For those members using Farsi language now thanks to XDA anishtan32, we can have it on Windows Mobile devices. After installing this application, Finger Keyboard will display as a new option the language Far. Members reported working on WVGA, VGA and QVGA resolutions. To install, just copy the extracted file into (root):\program files\fingerkeyb\skins\. Probably, you will need a soft reset after doing this.
Please leave feed back to the developer.

Making a time travel trough the infinite threads floating around we found WaitCursor, an application created by XDA member Marshall07 that will let you change the wait cursor on your Windows Mobile device. A big collection of many different style icons to change your actual cursor can be found on the developer’s original thread. You can even create your own wait cursor.
Despite the app is quite old still has good acceptance from members with newer devices. Working on WM6.5 and up for VGA and QVGA resolutions.

We have not seen too much stuff for non touch screen devices recently. XDA member Thekn presents Thekn Apps , a series of mortscript tweaks to completely customize your Windows Mobile Standard device.
With the developer’s tweaks you´ll be able to modify fonts, icons, and splash screens running WM6.1 and 6.5.
It was tested on Samsung GT-C6625, but I can confirm it´s working on Excalibur and Maple.

The release of much press-coverage of the imminent Windows Phone 7 operating system has spawned many look-a-like themes and applications, which allow older devices to imitate the look and feel of the new software to please their tech-hungry owners.
One of the more popular of these modifications was WP7UI by XDA member ashiqiqbal. Recently, the project has been terminated and reborn as ‘the Host’ – ashiqiqbal’s new WP7-like home screen replacement.
‘The Host goes one step further than WP7UI ever did, by offering additional customisation tools to its users. For instance, animated tiles are now available as well as finger-swipe navigation and support for landscape mode.. . . READ ON »
