Getting the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket to work on T-Mobile isn’t a very challenging task. Current methods for unlocking the device and flashing the T-Mobile radio are stable, safe, and effective, making it easy for those who crave Skyrocket goodness. In fact, it’s not all that different from the method for getting the Galaxy Note to work on T-Mobile.
The issue that comes up, however, is getting HSPA+ to work on the AT&T Skyrocket when connected to T-Mobile’s network. XDA Senior Member tspx23, who’s thread is already the go-to thread for the T-Mobile radio downloads, talks about why users aren’t getting HSPA+ working on their AT&T Skyrocket, despite being compatible with those bands. In his words:
On a side note a lot of people have just “claimed” that the skyrocket doesn’t pick up hspa+. This is not true, it does but you will have to figure out the right ROM/Kernel/Radio combination. I experienced intermittent connectivity on certain skyrocket kernels while running a T-mobile radio etc. Either way I ALWAYS had the ability to connect to hspa+. Most often I would get speeds of between 3-7mbps. I personally used VK1.
This has encouraged other T-Mobile customers rocking the Skyrocket to chime in with the kernel, ROM and radio combinations they’ve been using that have allowed them to get HSPA+. So far, it seems as if Juggernaut ROM with the Faux 009 kernel and the VKL1 radio nets it users HSPA+ connectivity, albeit the connection seems to be stuck around the 3-7mbps range. However, the discussion is still ongoing, as users try other combinations.
For additional information and the full discussion, check out theĀ radio thread. You’ll have to read through the thread to get the full scope of information and if you happen to stumble upon another combination that works, by all means feel free to add your results.

Data speeds are a touchy subject on pretty much every carrier worldwide. Sometimes the speeds are awesome, sometimes the speeds suck. Some are worse than others, some are better than others, but invariably there are customers of all of them who wish their speeds could be a little better.
Well, for those carrying the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727, your data woes may be a little closer to ending. XDA Senior Member kr3w1337 has posted that using a Telus modem could increase your data speeds. kr3w1337 explains:
Just wanted to share that using the Telus modem on the skyrocket leads to better speeds on HSPA for me. Reason being that the Telus modem has dual channel HSPA enabled so it should theoretically hit speeds of 42 mbps.
The method for flashing the modem is the same as flashing any other Samsung Galaxy S2 modem, so there’s no special tricks or difficult methods involved in the flashing process. Simply flash the modem and reboot. It’s only been tested by a few people, so kr3w1337 asks that if anyone does flash it to report to the thread to show their results.
If you’d like to give it a shot, you can find the download link to the modem and discussion in the original thread. Be sure to find and download a stock modem so you can restore back to your regular modem if it doesn’t work.
