Some devices just refuse to die, no matter how long they’ve been around. That said, a team of devoted developers has come together to bring the Linux kernel 3.0.8 to every 2011 Xperia device. The last official kernel release from Sony (Ericsson) for 2011 Xperia Devices was version 2.6.32.
XDA Recognized Developer nobodyAtall based this kernel on the ‘M7630AABBQMLZA404033I’ CAF tag, which is ‘the latest tagged release for this arch and is linux 3.0.8.’ The supported devices and the developer behind each one are as follows:
- Xperia Mini by Recognized Developer nobodyAtall
- Xperia Live with Walkman by pcfighter
- Xperia Pro by XDA Senior Member M66B
- Xperia Neo V by XDA S

The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro is a device so tiny that those accustomed to many of today’s gargantuan devices might think it was designed for a chihuahua. That however would just be silly due to their lack of opposable digits. It was in fact designed to be used by humans, and many humans use one. Despite being an older device, it’s running Android 4.1 and still has a loyal following—just as devices with hardware keyboards tend to , just look at the Desire Z for another example.
The hardware keyboard on the device, however, doesn’t always behave as you would expect when the device is running a custom ROM—specifically the LEDs that act as a backlight for the keyboard. Sometimes they d. . . READ ON »

Sony’s Xperia range of devices are incredibly popular. While some of them may be considered as older devices, they still see a good amount of development activity. Since the launch of Ice Cream Sandwich, users have been patiently awaiting the delivery of stable ROMs suitable for daily use. Enter XDA Senior Member paul-xxx, who has managed to port CM9 to the X8, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.
Although the X10 Mini has already been graced with Android 4.0 in the form a very alpha AOSP ROM and a build of MIUI4 by XDA Senior Member stelios97, the X8 and Mini Pro are only now receiving their first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich which is stable enough for daily use.
Functionality seems to be pretty complete across all three de. . . READ ON »

For the Xperia X10/X8/X10 mini and X10 mini pro owners out there, you might be aware that XDA forum members DooMLoRD and MrHassell have developed and app to provide some reboot options in a convenient menu.
The app currently features:
- Widget icon
- Fast power off
- Reboot command is itself very fast and the device reboots much faster
- Reboot into recovery or custom kernel
The XDA member states that the plan is to make an Arc/Play/Neo compatible version which will only have the Reboot and Power off version initially, but once recovery is working properly, it will be modified to support reboot into recovery.
For info and links to the current app, and to follow progress on support for the Xperia Arc, Play and Neo, head on ov. . . READ ON »

Many of us from the Windows Mobile era are still getting used to the fact that many devices can support multitouch with ease (heck, the ASUS Transformer supports up to 10 points simultaneously). Yet, there are devices where the fight for this capability is still on going. This happens to be the case for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, or at least it was the case until recently. Thanks to XDA member slade87, the device now enjoys this feature, which opens a world of possibilities for many apps to be used in this device, including Tap Tap Revolution, Fruit Ninja, most Gameloft games, anything that uses pinch-to-zoom, and much more. This fix requires a specific kernel as well as a rooted device to work.
