When looking through the xda-developers forums, interesting tweaks for your phone’s interface are never hard to find. Originally posted in an EnergyROM thread, XDA member merlin76‘s colourful changes to the default look of HTC Sense were worth sharing on a larger scale.
After receiving inspiration from the coloured tab icons in the Manila build found in the HTC HD Mini ROM, merlin76 felt motivated to port the brighter alternatives to HTC’s regular symbols to some more popular devices.

XDA member and increasingly more well-known graphics modifier davej has recently come up with another addition to his long line of HTC Sense modifications.
davej’s recoloured Contacts and Messaging icons offer a quick solution the problem of your phone’s Sense interface looking stale and tired. The original alternative icons, attached in the thread’s first post, include all of the small, square buttons found in the People tab of Manila. However, davej has frequently updated the thread, adding new modifications along the way such as SMS icons and message avatars.

Those of you who own a non-Snapdragon powered device will be overly popular with one of Windows Mobile’s most-seen animations: the wait cursor. When you’re running your favourite applications or simply trying to send a text message, you know it’s not good news if you see the rotating coloured orbs.
Interestingly, the wait cursor seems to be one of the least-frequently customised aspects of the default Windows Mobile interface. XDA member davej is hoping to change that with the release of an addition package to the popular Marshall WaitCursor 3.0 animation-changing application.
davej’s designs include a rotating, colour-changing globe and the radioactivity label and are sur. . . READ ON »

On our main page we always try to bring you the latest news on what´s happening around the big world of XDA, but from time to time we discover some stuff that perhaps is not new but is worth to mention on our portal. This time we bring back a nice theme created by XDA member earni.
An actual and different look on this theme regarding the upper bar for those using previous versions of Manila, you have all the normal information such as battery meter, signal, etc but on a completely different style. Working on VGA and WVGA resolutions running WM6.1 and up.

We have not seen too much stuff for non touch screen devices recently. XDA member Thekn presents Thekn Apps , a series of mortscript tweaks to completely customize your Windows Mobile Standard device.
With the developer’s tweaks you´ll be able to modify fonts, icons, and splash screens running WM6.1 and 6.5.
It was tested on Samsung GT-C6625, but I can confirm it´s working on Excalibur and Maple.

You may remember a few months ago, we released an article about a tracking software for Windows Mobile called LiteTrack, developed by XDA member xdaid. In case you are not sure what this those, basically the app runs in the background while using the GPS in your device (assuming it has one) and tracks all your trips. Basically, it maps whatever routes you take to wherever you go. This is particularly useful for people who tend to look for shortcuts from traffic and then simply forget them.
This new version of the app has been loaded with new features and a few critical bug fixes as well. So, if you were using it before, upgrade to 0.5 and find out what else this app has to offer. Feedback is always appreciated.

So, you have some very private files on your Windows Mobile device and don´t want others too see them? XDA member so 77 presents this application to lock those private files. The application is very simple and won´t eat much memory. You have the chance to protect files typing a password that will lock a file or folder.
The developer confirms it will work on WM 6.1 and up. To ensure better behavior install on device main memory.

Well-finished icons can bring a finishing touch to a well-themed device, but it’s often hard to find a corresponding icon for a relatively unknown application.
Created by XDA member poksh, IconHelper is a building tool that replaces and generates icons for your favourite shortcuts.
The application, which is available both in English and Russian, allows you to apply effects such as transparency and reflection to a start-menu icon simply by holding your finger down on the icon you want to change.
IconHelper is currently only at version 0.14 as its initial release was only a few days ago, but the developer has some interesting features planned for the application’s future. If you would like to try . . . READ ON »

XDA member MOHSEN-UNIQUE was in dire needs of a calendar in Persian for WM, and due to the fact that there was none available, he decided to make one himself. The app itself will work with virtually any app that displays calendar, dates, and appointments in WM. This basically means that your favorite apps (S2U2, Manila, etc) will be able to use this mod. The best part is that installation will not erase anything, so all your appointments and important dates will be safe.
If this is a feature that you need, make sure that you drop by the thread and leave some feedback for the dev.
