XDA member MOHSEN-UNIQUE was in dire needs of a calendar in Persian for WM, and due to the fact that there was none available, he decided to make one himself. The app itself will work with virtually any app that displays calendar, dates, and appointments in WM. This basically means that your favorite apps (S2U2, Manila, etc) will be able to use this mod. The best part is that installation will not erase anything, so all your appointments and important dates will be safe.

If this is a feature that you need, make sure that you drop by the thread and leave some feedback for the dev.

Program features:
Persian Calendar display on all programs that can display appointment (Today Screen – Titanium – S2U2 – Manila)
Remove without cleaning another appointment
Easy installation without damaging Manila
Installed on all versions of Manila (2, 2.1, 2.5)

You can find more information in the application thread.

One of the main perks of owning a Windows Mobile device is the relationship between it and your Windows-running computer. By taking advantage of the interconnectivity between the two, you can put the phone to good use even when you have something larger to work with.

BigMani‘s Remote Control App for Windows Mobile is one of numerous good examples of this. The application, which is available in English and German, uses a WLAN or an ActiveSync connection to allow you to control various functions on your PC through your Windows Phone.

Included is the ability to control media players (including VLC), mice, keyboards, presentation software and Windows Media Center.

The application should work on all WVGA-resolution Windows Mobile devices provided that they are running Windows Mobile 6.0+ and .NET Compact Framework version 3.5. You can find the download link in the application thread.

A very common occurrence for anyone who has a cell phone and anything on their head is misplacing it while it is in Silent mode. Just think about all the time that you can waste looking for your phone, calling yourself, just to find it by the eggs inside of the refrigerator. Well, thanks to this new app created by XDA member Corwin9S, you no longer have to go through this. The app can be configured to react to a certain phone number calling, a number of times (missed calls), and also after a timer from the calls.

Take the app for a spin, put your phone in silent, and lose it on purpose. You will see how easy finding your phone is from now on.

Description:
You never asked your phone somewhere in the house … with the ringing, off course. And, of course again, you can no longer get their hands on it!
Here is MY solution …
DringMoi!
This little program, free, allows you to activate, by simple calls, the ringing of your phone. And yes!

After being eliminated embarrassingly early on in this year’s World Cup, the English were consoled by the rise of a new star in football: Paul the Octopus. Supposedly hailing from Weymouth, Paul correctly predicted the outcomes of all of Germany’s matches and proceeded to foretell Spain to be the overall winners as the tournament reached its climax in July.

If you would like Paul to have more of a say in your day-to-day  life, XDA member TangoChen has created your ideal application. Paul’s Pick is a simple application for Windows Mobile which allows you to input the possible choices for the decision you have to make, and then leave an animated Paul to do the deciding for you. If his track record is anything to go by, your life choices are safe in his hands!

You can find the .cab file in the application thread.

TroutMobLayout

XDA members m0bmentality and conantroutman have been hard at work on creating the new TroutMobs Orange Street theme for HTC Sense (Manila 2.5), which is a refreshing and bright take on the sometimes-boring default look for your Windows Mobile device.

The team behind the theme has successfully skinned almost all of what’s visible on-screen, claiming to have edited over 1300 components. Also included, are original wallpapers (with weather-specific wallpapers promised) and an exclusive action screen, which complements the theme’s feel.

You can give the theme a try yourself by heading to the project thread and downloading the correct .cabs and .rars from the first posts.

homept

Since the evolution of HTC’s TouchFLO interface into ‘Sense’ with the introduction of the Android and Windows Mobile 6.5 platforms, this site has gained even more support for tweaks and modifications to how the home-screen replacement looks and behaves.

Although posted a few months ago, XDA user antoniomistretta (with help from degake) has found a way to remove the dark background that is shown when you swipe your finger to change tabs in Sense for Windows Mobile. As many users appreciate a transparent look in various aspects of their phone’s operating system, this tweak is sure to appeal to some of the XDA community.

To install the modification, simply download the .cab from the modification thread.

Information
Marathon is a Windows Mobile application which keeps track of your movement with the help of a GPS-receiver. It’s the perfect companion for sporting activates such as running and bicycling. You can configure Marathon to announce various statistics in the headset or speaker while you’re recording. This gives you the advantage of always knowing your performance and is a great morale boost to reach your goals. You can compete with yourself by setting the goal time comparison settings to one of your previous results. This will allow the announcements to tell you exactly how many seconds ahead or behind you are. You may also use the generic time goal in case you haven’t recorded anything to compete against. The application records and displays data such as time, distance, speed and your altitude change. You can also choose to display your speed and altitude as bar or line charts, as well as showing a map of your recording. As a complement to the application, Marathon is compatible with a free online service, which allows you to see more detailed information about your performance. You can view your result on a map as well as see various rankings against other users of the service.

Mersad 7, creator of  the Mersad Persian & Arabic Pack, began the Persian2World project last week in an attempt to provide Windows Mobile users who speak Persian as their first language with applications in their own native language. With the help of other members of the site, the first applications in this project has now been released.

At the time of writing, the applications available in Persian through Persian2World are Talkonaut (a VoIP application), Resco Contact Manager (an easy-to-use SMS, calls and contacts application) and GekoTask (a to-do list creator). To use the applications, you simply need a Persian language pack (such as Mersad 7′s own, in the link above) and to download the relevant .cab file for your application.

You can find the .cabs and more information about the project in the Persian2World thread.

wp7_anim

The excitement (amid other emotions) about the imminent release of Windows Phone 7 has inspired a vast range of themes and skins, which give your device the look and feel of the new operating system. As the developer’s first contribution to the site, XDA member Nevralgeek has created both a static splash screen and boot animation in the style of Windows Phone 7, which will either help you to theme more of your phone’s software in this style or to complete the illusion of having a Windows Phone 7 device when showing it off to friends.

To enable the modification, users need only download the attached .zip, which contains both the .png and the .gif. Using a program such as Advanced Config, you can then proceed to replace the animation and/or the splash screen accordingly.

The files are available in the original thread.
