The Incredible Android 4.4 Ported to the HTC Incredible S

One of the main objectives of newly released Android 4.4 was to make the system available for older devices with limited RAM. A few days ago, we mentioned that KitKat was successfully ported to Motorola Defy and few other legacy devices. Now, it’s time to present another project for a phone that originally shipped with Android 2.2 Froyo in early 2011. That device is HTC Incredible S, which recently received an unofficial CyanogenMod 11 port by XDA Senior Member szezso.

The build is still in its early stages, but quite a lot seems to work. Currently broken are the camera, GPS, button rotation, and SD Card mounting, but hopefully these will soon be fixed. The developer also announced that 3D hardware acceleration is fixed, so the Incredible S should perform smoothly. Not bad for a legacy device.

The newest build can be found in the ROM thread. If you are the owner of HTC Incredible S, try it and find out if VivoKat is indeed sweet.

[Thanks to Sandeep_Jagtap for heads up and GermainZ for Andy Incredible]

Glimpse Notifications: Easier Lockscreen Notifications

Lollipop brought a revamp to the lockscreen, taking away custom widgets but showing your notifications instead. If you're a fan of that, you might want an easier way to check your notifications as they come in, without losing your current lockscreen. Glimpse Notifications by XDA Senior Member xrad offers just that. You'd normally have to turn your screen on manually to see your notifications. Instead, Glimpse Notifications will do it for you when a notification comes in. That doesn't mean...
