The Weekly Q&A: Week 13

The XDA News Writer team has selected five questions and answers found on the forums, some of them may not be of your interest but we are an almost 3 million members community and therefore, they may be of help for many others.

Q What happens if I update my phone? will I need to re-root it and get the ROM again? will all of my applications get erased? If so, is there a way around this?

A You will lose your root, but not apps if it is just an update.

Q Can anyone suggest a good program to backup and restore carrier specific settings, so that if I load a new ROM I can quickly port settings over?

A Look on the forums for application called APN Backup & Restore.

Q When we will get the first official WP7 ROM from hTC for the hd2?

A There wont be an official wp7 rom for the hd2. The HD7 is Microsofts and HTC’s way of giving you WPS7 on a comparable device. You either need to get a new device, or wait for devs to port it.

Q How to sync my Google contacts to my new HTC HD2?

A To set up Google Sync on your Windows Mobile device see the link below.

Q I have the original T-Mobile Dash(not 3g) and want to know if a 6.5 ROM can be loaded on it? I tried running the spl and hspl but neither worked. If you know please link a helpful thread or response here. Thanks.

A Yes it´s possible, have a look to this WM 6.5 ROM thread

If you have a specific question that you think it’s worth addressing in the Q&A, please PM any News Writer.

Thank you for reading

Google’s Prank Roundup for April Fools 2015 [Updated]

Once again, we have arrived on the most magical of holidays - the annual unveiling of HalfLife 3, and day on which co-workers believe it is appropriate to duct tape air horns behind doors. I speak, of course, about April Fools Day. As has become their custom, Google launched lighthearted "pranks" for each of their various services (with other tech sites and vendors following suit), and we have done our best to round up the humorous products and tweaks surfacing thus far....
