The Weekly Q&A: Week 14

Every week we select 5 questions that we have come across throughout the forum, although they may not be interesting to you and your device(s) it may be useful to someone else with the same question.

Q: I am looking for a tweak\tool\registry hack (if possible) to have a Charge Only Mode for Windows Mobile 6.5 if at all it is possible.

A: Just use a different cable, you can get cables or adaptors that will charge only and wont sync. When you want to sync just change the cable or take off the adapter.

Q: How can I flash a branded phone with an unbranded rom?

A: You can flash an unbranded ROM on a rooted phone by using a “Goldcard”.

Q: Often times when Im chatting with someone on Google Talk, I get disconnected randomly, is there a solution to this?

A: If you’re connected via WiFi then your signal may be at fault due to signal interference, if it is on 3G then it may be a bigger issue as your connection *should* be pretty stable.

Q: When I try to flash a ROM on my Evo I get this error::

E:Can’t Symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at Line 14:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

A: Use root explorer or terminal emulator and see if your busybox is at /system/xbin/busybox. If not then you need to set your path to include where it is, and install it so the “functions” in it are resolved when called. Search for threads on manually installing busybox.

Q: When will there be Froyo (Android 2.2) for the Galaxy S Devices (Epic, Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant, I9000)?

A: Samsung has announced that they will release it soon but no specific date, just be patient, it will happen soon enough.

If you come across any questions that need to be addressed in next weeks QA feel free to PM any of the News Writers.

Thank you for reading.

OnePlus Two: Expectations and Boundaries

OnePlus is a company that has been through controversies and praise in what was perhaps one of the most dynamic years for a company - and all of this with a single phone. The OnePlus One was, indeed, flagship killer that didn’t settle in many ways. The device went on to sell over a million units - an impressive number considering the invite system meant limited sales and that its advertising was mostly word-of-mouth.   OnePlus made it clear that their...

Some of the most interesting pictures are time-lapse animations that capture the passage of time.  Someone painting a house, someone building a treehouse, or a sunset are just a few of the ideas for a time-lapse session. A lot of smartphone cameras have some great power now, so why not use a smartphone. Developer Nathan Osman offers up an app that creates simple and easy time-lapse photos. In this video, XDA TV Producer TK reviews ChronoSnap. TK shows off the...

Samsung Galaxy S6 To Receive Major Camera Update

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were launched, they became the prime focus for all discussions as Samsung took a break on their traditional design philosophy and opted for something that their flagship lineup hadn't seen before. But along with the design, a lot of Android enthusiasts were also impressed by another aspect of the flagship duo: their camera. Even traditionally, the primary camera on Samsung's flagship lineup has been one of its stronger points as compared to other...
