More and more smartphone manufacturers have been moving towards on-screen buttons, with Google really pushing for it over the physical button alternative. However, there are still a few OEMs (we're looking at you, Samsung) that have preferred to keep things a bit more traditional. Tell us which way you prefer and why.
The Weekly Q&A: Week 14
Every week we select 5 questions that we have come across throughout the forum, although they may not be interesting to you and your device(s) it may be useful to someone else with the same question.
Q: I am looking for a tweak\tool\registry hack (if possible) to have a Charge Only Mode for Windows Mobile 6.5 if at all it is possible.
A: Just use a different cable, you can get cables or adaptors that will charge only and wont sync. When you want to sync just change the cable or take off the adapter.
Q: How can I flash a branded phone with an unbranded rom?
A: You can flash an unbranded ROM on a rooted phone by using a “Goldcard”.
Q: Often times when Im chatting with someone on Google Talk, I get disconnected randomly, is there a solution to this?
A: If you’re connected via WiFi then your signal may be at fault due to signal interference, if it is on 3G then it may be a bigger issue as your connection *should* be pretty stable.
Q: When I try to flash a ROM on my Evo I get this error::
E:Can’t Symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at Line 14:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
Any Ideas on how to fix this?
A: Use root explorer or terminal emulator and see if your busybox is at /system/xbin/busybox. If not then you need to set your path to include where it is, and install it so the “functions” in it are resolved when called. Search for threads on manually installing busybox.
Q: When will there be Froyo (Android 2.2) for the Galaxy S Devices (Epic, Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant, I9000)?
A: Samsung has announced that they will release it soon but no specific date, just be patient, it will happen soon enough.
If you come across any questions that need to be addressed in next weeks QA feel free to PM any of the News Writers.

While there are frequent unexplained changes and pushes to Google's AOSP repositories, an interesting-looking new branch has been pushed out recently, called "master-soong". Taking a look at the changes made to the manifest repository (which is used to specify the repositories to be downloaded when building Android), it appears there are some new repositories making an appearance. Of note here are new prebuilt repositories for Go, and Ninja. Go is a programming language, created by Google, which compiles to produce...
There already are many solutions on the Google Play store if you want to send a link to one of your devices -- but what if you wanted to do it quickly without having to install any software or logging in to a website on the recipient end? Most apps require you to do either or both, which can be a hassle (or even a security risk) in some cases. Luckily, XDA Forum Member wyemun has developed CaastMe. Inspired by...
