Did you watch Apple's VP draw on his wrist during the Apple Watch announcement and wonder "why can't my Wear watch do that?" In typical XDA fashion, one enterprising forum member has brought similar functionality to Android Wear with a twist; it works on phones and watches alike, with other platforms on the way! The app is called Pinsy, and its release debut is a strong proof of concept with plenty of room to grow. You may remember the developer behind this project, XDA...
Verizon Droid DNA to Receive 4.4.2 KitKat + Sense 5.5 OTA This Thursday
The HTC Droid DNA is Verizon’s close cousin to the Japanese HTC Butterfly. It launched all the way back at the tail end of 2012 with Android 4.1, which has since been officially updated to 4.2.2. Now, the device is about to skip over 4.3, and jump straight Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Droid DNA now have reason to rejoice, as HTC has received technical approval for its Android 4.4.2 + Sense 5.5 update on the DNA. As expected, this is not going to be the same software that is seen on the latest generation HTC One M8, but rather more similar to the M7’s Sense 5.5 + Android 4.4.2 builds. The news on the upcoming update comes direct from Executive Director, Product Management Mohammed Versi who wrote the following to his personal Twitter account earlier today:
DNA Owners! Appreciate your patience, we have technical approval for OS 4.4.2 + Sense 5.5. Expect OTA updates to start on 4/24. Thanks
Unfortunately, HTC has yet to make any official statement regarding bringing Sense 6 to the DNA, which is a bit disappointing considering that the hardest part (bringing up the Android version) has already been accomplished. That said, we can’t imagine it’d be too difficult for aftermarket developers here on XDA to bring fully functional hybrid ports based on the official 4.4.2 DNA builds with some Sense 6 goodness baked in. Leave your thoughts in the comments below and also head over to the Droid DNA KitKat update thread.

Wear is said to not offer enough for mass adoption, even though its been in the market for over 9 months. I personally have a Gear Live which I purchased 8 months ago, and my experience with it has had its ups and downs throughout my time with it. For the longest time, I was not able to recommend the platform to anyone. Since then, a lot of updates have hit Wear watches, some improving battery life, others changing the...
SlimRoms' website has been experiencing technical difficulties for the last month or so, but it's good to know the team is working hard and is still on top of things. The SlimRoms GitHub repos are getting updated with some major changes showing up. Most notably, some projects are getting a new 5.1 branch: lp5.1! A new, revamped and open source website is also in the works, with a look inspired by material design. We also got a tip about an...
