Calling All Chefs (to Unify Naming Convention for Start Menu Icons)

A recent call from one of XDA’s popular chef NRGZ28 has just been made to all the chefs. He is calling all chefs together to bring a unified naming convention to all Start Menu icons across all ROMs. With this idea NRGZ28 is planning to bring ease and convenience to icon creators, chefs, and even users.

I would like to propose a standard.

A standard of naming ALL start menu icons using the “Start_Icon_XXXXX.png” format. This way, users wanting a different, uniform, iconset can request their favorite icon maker (people like Dinik for example) make a cab with this naming convention, where they can just install the cab and be ready to go!

To make a long story short, I propose all ROMs made on XDA, follow the format of “Start_Icon_Contacts.png” or “Start_Icon_FileExplorer.png”. Half of this is already don’t for us by microsoft, but HTC doesn’t always follow it. However, we, as chefs, can easily rename these files before we cook a ROM.

I’ll start doing this for all my ROMs, probably with the next update I will put it out… Let’s make it easier on users to user their favorite iconset, without complicated apps needing to be used to change them one by one… it’s such a PITA (especially when you reflash!).
