There is already proof that the HD2 can indeed boot WP7, but it seems that even though we can’t see a whole lot of development going on in our forums, things are moving back stage. XDA member Samsunguy posted two videos that have surfaced from a Chinese website called xda.cn. These not only show WP7 booting as per the original video released by XDA member Cotulla, but they show the OS going at what seems to be full functionality. Needless to say, that we can only see that the screen works and the phone module seems to work as well. We no nothing else about the remainder of the phone (Wifi, BT, GPS, sensors, etc).
As it is an unknown source, we have no idea about ETA, how far into the process this port is, or even what the requirements are. What we do know is that it seems to be a bit slow to start up, but hey… an extra 15 seconds never hurt anyone.
Update: There is a newer video and this shows a lot more proof for you non believers
