Last week, we talked about the imminent arrival of the iPhone onto Verizon Wireless and how it would probably be announced shortly. Well, as it turns out, “shortly” was just around the corner. According to an article featured in our sister site iPhone-Developers.com, the announcement was done today and Verizon came out claiming that they are prepared to handle the increased data load that forced AT&T to cut back on data plans for their customers. We have no doubt that the “Big Red” has probably prepared extensively for this release as it has been rumored for quite some time, indicating that this has been in the works for at least as long as the rumors have been around.
It’s been dreamed of by many and talked about for years, but today it is officially here — the Verizon iPhone 4.
Available on verizon wirless starting next month, the CDMA iPhone 4 is mostly the same as its GSM brethren, with the special exception that it runs exclusively on Verizon’s network. Verizon CEO Lowell Macadam has promised that their network will be able to handle the load, and should that prove true the Verizon iPhone 4 experience may be far superior to the one that millions of AT&T users are currently used to.
Do you think that Verizon is ready to handle a potential spill over of thousands of free agents (contract free customers) from AT&T? What are your thoughts now that Verizon has incorporated a non-4G device to their line up and that they are trying to boost sales of their 4G phones? Please leave your comments.
