Weeks Of WP7 News In One

We have not been covering much outside news but since the upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices might become our most talked about in the forum, it seems about right that we keep you updated. To do so, we must let you know of things that have happened in the past until now in order to keep you updated with current information and events

Here is a list of what new development in the WP7 world from just this last week:

Microsoft released RTM Developer kit:

  • The Panorama control
  • The Pivot control
  • Bing Maps control with search, directions, scroll, zoom, aerial view, street view and more
  • The Windows Phone 7 Toolkit includes the following additional Silverlight controls and components that are customized for the Windows Phone 7 experience:
  1. ContextMenu
  2. DatePicker
  3. TimePicker
  4. WrapPanel
  5. ToggleSwitch
  6. GestureService – adds events for Tap, DoubleTap, Hold, Drag (DragStarted, DragDelta, DragCompleted), Flick and Pinch

This is great news for developers, because this means that they can transfer their work to the new and improved version.

A Video of HTC Sense For WP7 Posted:

That looks a bit much, but very nice and I certainly can use this as a show off method for my friends. While this is all great, it is not official, so we do not know it its real or not, but comment and tell us how you feel about it.

Youtube makes it to WP7:

I guess when Microsoft says they are working on it, they actually are. It took them a year and WP7 looks great and all these small things are coming together, and now we can check YouTube support off the list.

Twitter also joins the party:

Its never a party unless you can send that 160 character tweet telling people about it, and it seems Wp7 will not be lacking in that category.

HTC HD7 now on T-mobileUSA’s list:

Its not a good week unless some accessories leak gives us an outlook to what we might be getting, and thankfully that is just what this is. It seems T-mobile will be stocking up on some HD7 gear this November (which is the expected US release date for WP7), now why would they be doing that??? hmm.

LG Optimus will be going to Orange UK:

I guess Orange users can rest at night knowing they will in fact be getting some WP7 devices. Whilst not the most attractive of the pack, still better than some other WP7 HTC devices.

WP7 devices will not be cheap:

We all knew this was coming. It seems some sites have noticed that the average cost of a WP7 device will be quite high, but to be honest… this is still much better than that $800 cost for the iPhone 4.

“No Phone for you”. No CDMA Devices till 2011:image

I guess all you Verizon Wireless and Sprint consumers will have to wait a whole year to get the Xbox live hub because it seems WP7 is going all GSM for the moment.

These are all the news that have been happening in the last few days. I personally will be handling all Windows Phone 7 news that comes from outside the forums and will make sure to keep you guys update on the latest developments.
