Windows Phone 7 Series: Has Microsoft Failed? (Part 2)
Some time ago I wrote an article about Windows Phone 7 Series, wondering if Microsoft had failed with its brand-new OS, called Windows Phone 7 Series.
There has been a lot of news about the OS lately, especially at MIX and today here at Xda-dev, but every time I hear news about features of Windows Phone 7 Series, the more I am getting dissapointed.
According to Engadget, there will be no copy&paste feature available on the WP 7 Series (Edit: The option may be available after all, but not in the first release of WP7) :
There is a data-detection service built into the text-handling API that will recognize phone numbers and addresses, but Microsoft says most users, including Office users, don’t really need clipboard functionality.
They’re saying ‘most’ users don’t need that option, but I am using it a lot. They should reckon with all people. Why aren’t they just adding that feature, it can’t be such a hard job. For example, I’m wanting to copy something from a web page to Word. That will not be possible at all. You can’t just say ‘most people aren’t using it, so we won’t implement it’.
But that’s not the only thing where Microsoft has gone wrong. There will for example be no file manager and it seems there will be no real multi-tasking. No removable storage card. All functions that made me choose for Windows Mobile. The functions that made Windows Mobile beat every other OS.
Does this all mean that Windows Phone 7 Series truly is a huge failure?
Well I don’t think so, the OS itself is just great. I love the design, the finger friendliness, the integration of Xbox and Zune.
But the lack of those features definitely makes me doubtful if I would go for it or not, but then again I hope to rely on this community of developers to make it better where possible and the leaked build is the first step towards that.

OnePlus is one of those companies that appear one day and next thing you know, they are all over the internet. Their original OnePlus One phone was a major success in the mobile space due to its low price yet remarkable specifications - the ultimate goal of the company and their “Never Settle” slogan. We love talking about “the little OEM that could”, not necessarily because they are good or bad, but because their business and marketing strategies are very...
