There aren’t many custom ROMs for Windows Phone 7 devices because, let’s face it, there simply isn’t the same kind of need as there was on Windows Mobile (or still is on Android). But nonetheless, with some Windows Phones getting unlocked and everything, custom ROMs have emerged for them, and one of the most popular ones is Deepshining for the HTC HD7.
The Deepshining ROM by recognized developer dotcompt has recently been updated to the 8107 build, which fixes some bugs such as the disappearing keyboard. Besides that, some useful tweaks like the SMSBackup utility have been added.
The biggest news here, however, is the Deepshining Marketplace, which allows you to install and update homebrew apps such as Supreme Shortcuts and more directly from your device. Sure, homebrew marketplaces are nothing new, but previous attempts such as Bazaar, while arguably well done, haven’t really caught on for lack of support; baking a marketplace right into a popular custom ROM should increase adoption rates considerably, we’d presume.
