Update To Mango Beta Without A Developer Unlocked Device

Certainly, you have heard by now about the infamous Mango upgrade for Windows Phone 7 devices. It is yet not available in a final release. However, it can be found asa beta update on certain devices. Well, for those of you without these specific devices, there is a way for you to try the upgrade. This will install on any device without needing a dev unlock nor will it try to authenticate the user via Zune or the Windows Phone 7 dev SDK. The best part is that achieving this is as simple as running an exe. XDA member AlexDP has put together a nice and simple guide on how to get this accomplished. One word of advice from XDA member walshieau who is one of the people who have tried this is that you should save the backup that is generated by this tool because there is no upgrade path from Beta Mango to RTM. You need to revert to the backup before an upgrade path to Mango RTM.
So, if you have a Windows Phone 7 device, please take this for a spin and let the dev know what you think and if the guide worked for you or not.
Simply follow the instructions included with the PDF, but instead of running MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate.exe, run this file.
Everything else is exactly the same. No need to run MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate.exe aftewards.
No dev unlock required, no Zune check, no WP Dev SDK check.
You can find more information in the guide thread.
