Xperia X10 Camera Mod Brings Camera Improvements and More

On many older devices, most developers focus on updating the device to the latest version of Android. As we’ve seen before, really old devices are still getting updates. Does that mean that development comes to a halt for those stuck on stock ROMs? Not at all. Sony Xperia X10 users now have a camera mod for their stock ROM to help make the most of the device’s 8MP shooter and Zeiss glass.

The mod was released by XDA Senior Member FeraVolt. It adds several fun features to the camera, while improving the overall camera experience. In addition, there are some mods to try to help improve general phone performance as well. The feature list includes:

– BraviaEngine
– AudioShutter Fix
– FPS Uncap
– Enchanced Bass
– Init.d autorunner
– Updated Busybox
– One init.d tweak:
– Increased JPEG quality
– Enabled support of Bravia Engine
– Misc encoder tweaks
– Vm CacheDrop
– Panorama tweaks
– Modified Camera App:
– Changed all res images to newer ones
– Decreased camera wait delay
– Decreased Video service delay
– Increased Sound Quality
– Increased Image capturing speed
– Decreased Face Detection delay
– App Opening speed increased
– Video Capturing quality increased
– Audio Codec quality increased
– DoubleChannel audio recording (but mono sound)
– Image quality increase
– Decreased all possible UI delays
– Decreased all possible HW-SW i/o relation delays
– Audio quality set to original in apk (was causing problems)
– Recent media thumbnail quality increased
– Fixed init.d tweak
– Added another Panorama capturing app
– Added NeoReader app
– Raised Video capturing fps limit from 24 to 30

It’s a really long feature list for a simple camera mod, and many will find the increased camera quality and panorama mods to be especially pleasing. If you’re still on a stock Xperia X10 ROM and want to improve camera performance, as well as apply some additional tweaks, this is a good mod to try out.

New Snapdragons: Some Context & Contrast

It hasn’t been a good year for Qualcomm so far. Every device featuring the Snapdragon 810 has had a less-than-stellar fate, be it because of overheating complaints or actual decreased sales. HTC is in a particularly worrisome situation, and Sony’s Z4 is slipping down Japanese charts just over a week after its release. The G Flex 2, Mi Note Pro and Z3+ all saw complaints as well. Even MediaTek is seemingly getting an advantage over this.   But a particularly...

Google To Launch Next Gen Android One On July 14

The first gen of Android One devices to be launched in India in September 2014 were decent starter smartphones, featuring budget specs and a promise of fast updates.
