Buying the Surface Pro 9 is an investment, so you'll want to protect your new device with a case. Here are some of the best available.
The Surface Pro 9 is a flagship 2-in-1 from Microsoft. It keeps the same shape and form factor as Surface Pro 8 but comes with fresher 12th-generation Intel CPUs, a new 5G option powered by the Microsoft SQ3 Processor, and a bunch of new color options. That makes it one of our favorite Surface PCs and one of the most portable and powerful Windows tablets ever.
Someone turned a Game Boy into an FM radio, and all it takes is a special cartridge
This cartridge can turn any Game Boy-compatible console into a radio; even the modern-day ones.
Given their popularity, Game Boys would have made amazing portable radios. Of course, the tech wasn't around at the time to make it happen, but that doesn't mean someone has found a way to do it anyway. Such is the case of Orange FM, a special cartridge you can plug into a Game Boy to turn it into a portable FM radio.
This talking plant uses AI to yell at you when it needs watering
Do you take good care of your plants? It's time for them to weigh in their opinion.
I've always been terrible with keeping plants. One of my major gripes is that plants can't tell you what's wrong with it, or if everything is going smoothly; by the time something has gone horribly wrong, it's often too late to save them. However, someone has fixed this problem by combining AI with a Raspberry Pi to create a plant that will literally tell you if something is wrong.
NAS specifications and jargon explained - A complete guide for beginners
Learn all there is to know about network-attached storage.
A network-attached storage (NAS) is a device storing lots of data on a central location connected to the LAN. It can also run various services, including a media and web server, and even manage footage recorded from IP security cameras. When shopping around for a NAS server, the onslaught of specifications and jargon can prove overwhelming. I'm going to list all the most popular terms you'll likely come across when shopping for a NAS and setting one up to store all your data.
The ROG Ally X is bringing some huge spec bumps and we're here for it
Some exciting upgrades are coming and we can't wait
PC gaming handhelds have been all the rage since Valve dropped its Steam Deck back in 2022. Since then, a lot of major players have entered the ring, with the likes of Asus, Lenovo, and MSI all debuting their own gaming handhelds. Perhaps one of the better out of the bunch is the Asus ROG Ally, offering excellent performance, a fantastic screen, and high compatibility with apps and games thanks to it running Windows.
How to install Jellyfin on a NAS
Jellyfin seems complicated, but it doesn't have to be. This is how to set it up on TrueNAS.
Jellyfin is one of the best Plex alternatives for a great NAS, and it's one that I personally use. It's a media server that can stream and transcode video for clients, and it's completely free and open source. It requires a bit of setup to get working, but it's well worth it once it's configured and working perfectly.
Windows laptops have never been as exciting as they are right now
With Qualcomm Snapdragon X laptops kickstarting the era of the AI PC, we're staring down a big paradigm shift.
Microsoft held two major events this week, with the biggest of the bunch taking place on Monday, May 20th. The company, alongside Qualcomm and a number of hardware partners, introduced the first wave of true AI PCs with Copilot+. In a single day, all at the same time, 14 new laptops were announced, with most of them becoming available to pre-order that same day. Outside of events like CES, that's kind of unprecedented, at least in recent history.
Researchers have figured out why iOS 17.5 keeps resurrecting deleted photos
Do you remember those embarrassing photos you deleted from your iPhone? iOS 17.5 does.
Bugs in software are very common, but none are quite as spooky as the one that's currently haunting iPhones running iOS 17.5. Users are reporting that photos they deleted long ago are reappearing for no observable reason. Worst of all, they always come back when deleted again, which makes those embarrassing images hard to get rid of for good.
How to install Microsoft Copilot on a Mac
If you want to install Microsoft Copilot on a Mac, there are a few unofficial ways to do it
If you've heard about Microsoft Copilot and want to use it on your Mac, you can go about doing that a few ways. You won't quite get the system-level integration Windows users enjoy, but you can get pretty close and make the program a part of your system instead of just a tab in your browser.
While it may never happen, I would love to see Apple release a standalone Arm CPU
It would be a strange shake-up for the CPU market.
Apple launched the M4 processor with the 2024 iPad Pro, marking the first time the company showcased its new Arm chip on a tablet over a Mac. This makes the iPad Pro one of the most powerful devices Apple has available and that got me thinking. The Apple M series of processors are marvels. The company went from nothing (outside of mobile Arm development) to rolling out desktop-class chips with the Mac Pro in just a few years. How much of a market shake-up would occur if Apple released an M processor as a standalone product?
Microsoft announced Copilot+ at an event in Redmond today. The new brand is for AI PCs, with Microsoft reimagining how people interact with PCs in an era with emerging AI technologies.
The iPad 10 is one of the best tablets currently on sale. It features a sleek chassis with round corners, iPadOS 17 support, Apple Pencil compatibility, and much more. So, when you buy an iPad 10, you're getting your hands on modern technology that should remain valid for years to come. However, to contribute to its longevity, you must protect your iPad 10 with a case.

Ranking our favorite and least favorite laptops announced this week
14 great laptops, but only one winner.
It's an incredibly exciting time for Windows fans. With the Snapdragon X series of processors, the era of the AI PC is finally getting started, but most notably to me, Windows PCs are finally going to be able to compete with MacBooks. The power and efficiency of an Arm processor are unlike anything you can get with an x86 chip, and I can't wait to see expectations for Windows laptops evolve and to have a laptop that can last me all day without a second thought.

M2 iPad Air (2024) review: A tablet with totally fine updates
The M2 iPad Air really has two selling points: the newer silicon and the new 13-inch option. That's about it, but I'm ok with boring.
Compared to the flashy M4 iPad Pro, the new M2 iPad Air may seem a bit on the boring side. It didn't get a new OLED screen, didn't get a thinner body, didn't get a new Magic Keyboard, and didn't get the newest M4 Apple silicon. But Apple did introduce a larger 13-inch option for the Air, gave it enough of a silicon bump to keep things zippy, and doubled the base storage amount, all while keeping it at the same affordable price. I am certain that will be enough to keep the 2024 iPad Air as the best-selling iPad (and tablet) in the world for the next couple of years.
What is VESA mounting and how does it help you?
VESA is a word we hear a lot when talking about TV's and monitors and for a good reason.
VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) is an organization that focuses on display standards. One of the more widely known standards is VESA mounting, but they do have some other open standards as well. Having open standards means that more companies can make use of universal standards worldwide, which in turn is best for everyone.
Here's why you don't need a gaming handheld if you have a smartphone
Why I shrug at the idea of buying a gaming handheld
The handheld gaming revolution has transformed how and where we play our games these days, and it seems like we're barely stretching the surface with what's possible with these devices. They're slowly replacing smartphones for many as the go-to entertainment devices, as they can also stream movies and shows and let you browse the internet, among other things. The chief in importance for a gaming handheld, however, is gaming, and there are plenty of great handhelds out there that let you enjoy the latest and the most popular games out there on the go.
How to master the Windows Command Prompt — The ultimate command line cheat sheet
The Windows command prompt is a powerful tool you can leverage with these helpful prompts.
The terminal is a bit of a hurdle when you're getting started with Linux, but it's a very powerful tool that's faster than the GUI (graphical user interface) in some cases. Windows has its own terminal — the Command Prompt. While PowerShell is the more advanced and sophisticated version of Command Prompt, the latter is still great if you want to learn the ins and outs of using the terminal.
