It is great to see a surge of new apps embracing the floating app phenomenon, with many incorporating XDA Senior Member pingpongboss's StandOut libraries. Not only are they fun to play with, but they also offer a refreshing new perspective and experience on multitasking with your device. Floating navigational buttons allow for a true full screen experience, while hovering widgets and notes allow for unprecedented multitasking flexibility. And although floating settings are also something that we've seen before, there's no harm in having an alternative.

Incorporating StandOut, XDA Forum Member dasi1241 has developed an app called Floating Touch, which allows you to access your most frequent settings toggles. Reminiscent of Paranoid Android's Halo and Pie, and the iPhone's Assistive Touch feature in both design and functionality, Floating Touch spawns a button that hovers over your running application, which when pressed displays a pie-like interface with various settings toggles and quick actions.

Customization is extensive. It has a total of fifteen different shortcut spaces that can be set and customized, such as your favorite apps, expanding the status bar, and standard system settings like WiFi, Bluetooth and brightness. It also allows you to set navigation buttons, being home, menu, back, and recent apps. However, the latter two will require root access. The color of the pie-like panel can be changed, and so can the size, transparency, and graphic of the floating button.

Floating Touch is a very well designed and polished app, from its concept and functionality, to the smooth and logical Holo interface. The app is compatible with devices running Android 2.3 and newer, and is ad-free and free from the Play store. If you would like to learn more, check out the application thread for more information.
