How to Bring Back Ambient Display Proximity Wake in OxygenOS with Tasker

In a previous update to OxygenOS, OnePlus removed the proximity wake feature from its devices and replaced it with a lift to wake feature. Thanks to XDA Recognized Contributor Portgas D. Ace with help from Recognized Contributor Quinny899, we now have a way to bring this back to your current version of OxygenOS—provided you have root access.

This guide makes use of the popular automation app known as Tasker. Tasker monitors for a motion event in front of the proximity sensor and then sends an intent to start ambient display. You can find the Tasker profile description in the thread linked below.
