AMD Ryzen 5000 series desktop CPU start at ₹22,990 in India

AMD launched its latest Ryzen 5000 series of desktop processors with the new Zen 3 architecture last month based on the 7nm architecture. A total of four SKUs were announced and the company had confirmed that the US pricing of the new CPU lineup would be between $299 to $799. Today, we have confirmation of the official India pricing for the Ryzen 5000 CPU range. As per AMD India, the new Ryzen 5 5600X would be priced at ₹22,990, the Ryzen 7 5800X at ₹34,490, the Ryzen 9 5900X at ₹41,990, and the mighty powerful Ryzen 9 5950X at ₹60,990. Note that these prices are excluding taxes, which means that there will be an additional GST of 18% charged by retailers.

The new series is led by Ryzen 9 5950X CPU which is claimed to offer the highest single-thread and multi-core performance of any desktop gaming processor. The flagship processor comes with 16 cores and 32 threads with a peak CPU clock speed of 4.9GHz. Moving down, the 12-core 5900X processor comes with a peak CPU clock speed of 4.8GHz. It brings a 26% generational uplift (compared to the Ryzen 9 3900XT) in gaming performance and a 19% generational increase in instructions per cycle (IPC). The processor is also said to be 7% faster than the competition (Intel Core i9-10900K) in 1080p gaming and an average of 26% faster in 1080p gaming generationally (Ryzen 9 3900XT). The mid-tier Ryzen Ryzen 7 5800X comes with 8-cores, 16-threads, and a peak clock speed of 4.7GHz. While the most affordable option is the Ryzen 5 5600X which comes with 6-cores, 12 threads, and peak CPU clock speeds of 4.6GHz.

The 5800X, 5900X, and the 5950X are all rated at 105W TDP. The 5600X, on other hand, is rated at 65W TDP. AMD had also confirmed during the official launch that the existing AMD 500 series motherboards will support the new Ryzen 5000 Series desktop processors. The user will only have to update the BIOS (AGESA 1.1.0.0). AMD has shared the process on its community blog that you can check out over here. Coming to the availability, the Ryzen 5000 series desktop processors will be available for purchase starting today. As for India, the chips should reach local retailers soon.

Additionally, AMD had also announced the ‘Equipped to Win’ game bundle program for its customers. If you purchase either the Ryzen 9 5950X, Ryzen 9 5900X, or the Ryzen 7 5800X processor, then you get a free copy of Far Cry 6 (when it’s released) if a purchase is made before December 31, 2020. The program has also been extended to the previous-gen lineup if customers buy the Ryzen 9 3950X, Ryzen 9 3900XT, or Ryzen 7 3800XT processor between October 20th and December 31st, 2020.
