[FTF] Sony Rolls Out Android 4.4.4 for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z

[FTF] Sony Rolls Out Android 4.4.4 for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z

While Sony is still struggling to provide KitKat for some of their mid-end phones from 2013 (still pending investigation), owners of flagship devices from this Japanese OEM should feel happy right about now. Sony has started to roll out an update to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z bringing the latest Android 4.4.4 on board and fixing lots of bugs present in earlier firmware revisions.

When Sony released a KitKat update back in May, more than a few users have been complaining about bad battery life (not a big surprise) and a few additional minor issues that forced them to revert to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Sony was pretty slow in addressing the problems, but after four months, the OEM has finally decided to fix them and deliver an OTA update that should be ready to download in the next few days.

What have been fixed in the latest update? Here’s the list of enhancements.

  • Upgrade to Android 4.4.4

  • Better battery performance in some background applications

  • Email stability & performance enhanced

  • General improvements to MMS, Calendar, Wifi, Contacts & More

  • All of our latest bug fixes and enhancements

If you can’t wait for the official update, you can visit one of the threads mentioned below to put your fingers on FTF files waiting to be flashed via Flashtool. A big thanks should be given to XDA Senior Member Jamal_RS and XDA Forum Member xperian.ir for uploading the FTF files.

Hurry up, the FTF’s are waiting for you!
