Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Moto G5S Plus begins rolling out in Brazil
Depending on the type of Android customer you are, you may or may not judge a smartphone OEM by the speed of its software updates. The process, in general, has become incredibly complex due to how many phones come out each year, the plethora of price points these companies are trying to hit, and the number of resources they are allowed to allocate to each product they sell. Moto G5S Plus owners who currently live in Brazil should be happy to hear that Motorola is now rolling out the device’s Android 8.1 Oreo update.
Motorola is actually quite the popular company over there in Brazil. They have had great success connecting to the society in ways that other companies have been unable to do. It was back in June of this year when we started to see that Motorola had begun to soak test a new update for the Moto G5S Plus in the region. That update ended up being Android 8.1 Oreo and it seems they have been very thorough about it as the soak test ended up lasting about 2 and a half months.
XDA Junior Member mousenotfound informed the Moto G5S Plus forum when the official support page had been published, and since then the update has been rolling out to customers in Brazil. Those who are interested will be able to find the official support page for Android 8.1 Oreo for the Moto G5S Plus right here, and people are already discussing the changes as they receive the update in our forums right now. These Android OTA update rollouts take time to complete though, so while some are happy to boast about the new features, others are continuing to wait for the notification. For those who have yet to receive the update, be patient and keep your eye on that status bar for the OTA notification.
We also have additional confirmation of this Android 8.1 Oreo rollout being official thanks to +Emanuel Bernardo in the Brazilian Moto G5S Plus Google+ group.
