Android Wear 2.0 Arrives for 1st Gen LG Watch Urbane and LG Watch R; Urbane 2nd Edition to Receive Next Month
Android Wear 2.0 was announced back in February this year. While the update was supposed to roll out to all supported devices soon after it became available, it took close to 2 months to Google to start rolling out the update. So far, only a handful of devices have received Android Wear 2.0.
A majority of devices, including popular watches such as the Huawei Watch and Moto 360 2nd Gen, are still on the wait list to receive the jump to Android Wear 2.0. Google says the reason behind it has been delaying the update rollout is a software bug found in the final testing.
Some more watches are now receiving Android Wear 2.0. Google has announced on its Android Wear support forum that the first-gen LG Watch Urbane as well as LG Watch R will be receiving Wear 2.0 starting this week. One of our readers has already received the update on his 1st gen LG Watch Urbane.
The update is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Android Wear 2.0 running on top, as you can see in the images below.
As for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, owners of this watch will have to wait one more month to receive this update. As confirmed by LG on Google Plus, the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will receive Wear 2.0 “in the beginning of May.”
In any case, if you are rocking either an LG Watch Urbane 1st Gen or LG Watch R, keep an eye out for the update prompt.
