Back in July this year, Asus first lifted the covers off the ROG Phone II in China. The device then finally made its way to the US and Indian markets last month, offering top-of-the-line specifications at an unbelievably compelling price. However, it's not just the hardware specifications that make it a great phone. Asus has also greatly improved upon the software side of things, adding a ton of useful features into the mix, including the ability to opt for a cleaner UX. Now, with the latest firmware OTA update, the company is bringing even more customization options into the mix.

ROG Phone II FOTA version 16.0631.1908.12_M3.13.33.28_20190923 update changelog is as below:

  • Armory Crate - Added AirTrigger, Key-mapping and macro customization options for Game scenario profiles, and sharing game profiles with other ROG Phone 2 users
  • Bluetooth Calls - Added options to switch between connected Bluetooth audio devices on the fly directly on the call screen
  • AirTrigger 2 - Now launch any app by long squeezing or short squeezing the device.

As of now, there's no information from the company regarding the release schedule for the aforementioned FOTA update. However, we expect the update to hit devices worldwide over the course of the next few weeks. Following the update, ROG Phone II users will be able to customize the air triggers and macros right within Armory Crate. They'll also be able to use the handy air triggers to launch specific apps, with two supported squeeze gesture options. Finally, the update will also give users to easily switch between the handset and connected Bluetooth devices while on the call screen.

The ROG Phone II is one of the best value-for-money flagships in the market right now, especially if you consider the value proposition of the 8GB variant. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 855+ chipset, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It packs in an impressive 6.6-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate that offers an unbelievably smooth experience on a number of supported games. Backing up the hardware is a massive 6,000mAh battery which is ideal for long gaming sessions.
