The ASUS ZenFone 6 was launched in May 2019, bringing in top specifications such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and an innovative 48MP flip camera to Asus's device portfolio. The device was then launched in India as the ASUS 6z because of a trademark dispute in the country. With this device, Asus has managed to tick a lot of the right boxes for many consumers who are looking to purchase a flagship device on a tighter budget. Now, the company is rolling out an update that brings ARCore support to the device and bumps up the security patch level of the device.
The v16.1210.1906.156 update for the Asus ZenFone 6 ZS630KL is now rolling out with the following changes:

The update comes in at a size of 396.8MB, and is rolling out in a staged manner. The highlight of the update is the latest (for now) Android security patches, as well as the improvements to the camera of the device, building up on the good work from the previous update. The update also adds in official support for Google ARCore, which we had previously reported as being imminent.

The Asus ZenFone 6 is also shaping up to be a decent, community-friendly device. The company had released kernel sources for the device along with a tool to officially unlock its bootloader. Asus also carried out a device seeding program, providing several prominent developers with a device in order to foster the third party development community for their flagship. We even witnessed the first fruits of this seeding program, as the first working Google Camera port for the ZenFone 6 brought 48MP HDR+ capabilities. And because of its flipping camera module, any improvements to the camera directly and equally improve the selfie capabilities of the device as well. With a competitive price tag, top specifications, innovative design, near-stock Android experience, frequent updates, developer friendliness, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack -- there's very little to hate on the ZenFone 6, and we are certainly glad that such a device exists.
