At the Snapdragon Tech Summit last year, Qualcomm announced its latest flagship chipset — the Snapdragon 865. Since then, we've seen the chipset on a couple of devices, including the OnePlus 8 series, the OPPO Find X2 series, the Xiaomi Mi 10 series, Realme X50 Pro, the iQOO 3, among others. Earlier this year in February, Qualcomm also released a list of 19 announced and upcoming devices that would feature the Snapdragon 865 SoC. This included the yet unannounced ASUS ROG Phone III and ASUS ZenFone 7. While we still haven't heard anything about the devices from ASUS, a recent report from Taiwanese publication Commercial Times claims that the devices will be launched around July this year.

The report states that the ZenFone 7 and ROG Phone III will be launched towards the end of the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2020, with ASUS expecting a 30-50% growth in sales for its upcoming gaming smartphone. While we have no further information about the devices yet, it's worth noting that the ROG Phone III recently passed the WiFi Alliance's certification process with the model number I003DD.

Even though the certification doesn't reveal any new information about the device, the fact that ASUS has already received certification for the device means that the company is well past the development process and might be launched soon. For the unaware, the ROG Phone III is a follow up to last year's ROG Phone II which is known for disrupting the gaming smartphone segment with its flagship specifications and relatively affordable price tag. The ZenFone 7, on the other hand, follows the ZenFone 6 (or ASUS 6Z) from last year, which featured an innovative flip camera module.
