Google I/O 2012 brought with it a variety of exciting announcements in both software and hardware. You may remember last week when we reported that the Acer Iconia Tab A200 was receiving its first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich thanks to an over-the-air update. It was speculated then that the Iconia Tab A500 would be the next Acer device to get an update due to the similarities in hardware with the A200. XDA Senior Member vache, the same A500 owner that managed to boot the A200 update, has provided a leaked copy of the previously promised A500 update in our forums and he reports that it works fine.
You may remember a few days ago when we reported on a clip showing Sony's LocationFree Player system running on Android. Since the release of the initial video (and the overwhelming number of inquiries about the app that followed), XDA Forum Member mgschwan has received the clearance from Sony necessary to release the app.
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 was the first device in the popular XPERIA line. Launched in 2008 as a Windows Mobile 6.1 slider with a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 3 inch screen, the X1 brought with it a shift in Sony Ericsson design. The X1 and it's aptly named Windows Mobile 6.5 sibling, the XPERIA X2, are the only handsets in the XPERIA line that didn't ship with Android. The next Sony release (the XPERIA X8 in 2010) featured the Android 2.1 native operating system.
