Since the latest 1.41 update from December, rooting the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet has gotten a lot harder – you had to block the update or, if you had already applied it, restore to the previous 1.40 version before it was possible to gain root access. However, some people have been working on directly rooting the 1.41 version, and even come up with a method to root the Nook Tablet by booting from the SD card.

Being a tablet, it makes a lot more sense to run Ubuntu on the ASUS Tranformer Prime than on a smartphone. GTA III, released ten years ago, was the first in the series to feature 3D graphics, and was recently released for both Android and iOS. Since it's not rewritten from the ground up for mobile devices, but rather just a straight port of the PC version, many of the mods, which can change the appearance of the game's objects such as cars (seen on the picture) and buildings, still work.

A few days ago, we reported how an OTA update for Barnes & Noble's Nook Tablet fixed a hole that allowed you to sideload apps. It worked like this:

GetJar, an independent application store for Android, is offering 100 paid apps for free.
