APKTool 2.4 is now available for decoding Android apps
APKTool is the most popular reverse engineering tool to decompile Android APKs. The tool has reached version 2.4 with many bug fixes and changes.
APKTool is an incredibly useful reverse engineering tool from developer ibotpeaches. It can be used to decode most Android apps into smali, which can then be converted to Java for easier analysis. It's the go-to tool for most independent developers looking to mod apps or uncover their secrets. We frequently use it when analyzing apps for new features.
Samsung Good Lock gets updated to support Galaxy devices running One UI
Samsung said they would be updating Good Lock for One UI just in time for the launch of the Galaxy S10 family. Today, Samsung released that update.
Samsung’s Good Lock was first released in 2016 and it allowed users to tweak how TouchWiz looked on Android Marshmallow. With Android Oreo, Samsung brought Good Lock back with a whole lot more features. Last week, Samsung posted on their official forums that they would be updating Good Lock for One UI just in time for the launch of the Galaxy S10 family. Today, Samsung released that update.
How to remap Bixby to Google Assistant on the Samsung Galaxy S10, Note 9, and other One UI devices
Samsung released an update with Bixby button remapping, but they decided to block Google Assistant. Luckily, we have an easy fix for that.
At Samsung Unpacked, Samsung announced their new Samsung Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Fold. After the press discovered a new option in Bixby, Samsung confirmed that the button would be natively remappable. With an update released to the Bixby app on older One UI devices today, this is finally possible. However, it wasn't all good news. Samsung is limiting the apps you can launch with the button. That means the Bixby button can't natively launch Google Assistant, but we have a solution.
How to get Samsung Digital Wellbeing and Bixby Routines on any rooted One UI phone
The Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with One UI 1.1, adding Digital Wellbeing and Bixby routines. Here's how to get them on any rooted Samsung One UI device.
A few days back, Samsung announced the Galaxy S10 family. The Galaxy S10 will be one of the most important flagship smartphones of the year. Along with new hardware features like the ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner, the Galaxy S10 came with some new software features like Bixby Routines and Samsung's own version of Digital Wellbeing. Thanks to RydahTheMod from the SamCentral Discord server, we got the APKs that enable the new feature. However, you can't simply sideload these APKs on any Samsung device due to restrictions in One UI. Thanks to developer Skittles from the Lawnchair team for making a Magisk module that will let any rooted Samsung device running One UI—Exynos Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9/S9+, and Galaxy Note 9—try out some of the Galaxy S10's new software features right now.
Bixby Button Remapping, Digital Wellbeing, Missing Hard Press Home Button, and more Samsung Galaxy S10 software changes!
Here are all the new, yet minor, software features we found on the new Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e running Android Pie with One UI.
With how much new hardware Samsung unveiled at Unpacked, it's easy to get lost in all the announcements. There's the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10+, and 5G Galaxy S10+. We tried our best to consolidate all the news about these new devices, but there will always be new features that don't get center stage during the keynote. That's especially true with the new changes in One UI, Samsung's modified flavor of Android 9 Pie, on the Samsung Galaxy S10. One UI was announced months back at Samsung Developer Conference and has rolled out to the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy Note 9, so it's not new in the minds of Samsung fans. I attended the public Samsung 837 event in New York where I got to spend some time with the Galaxy S10 series. During my short time using the device, I noticed a handful of changes to One UI that are worth mentioning.

[Update: Live] Bixby 2.0 debug menu hints at German, French, Italian, & Spanish language support
Samsung is testing support for German, French, Italian, and Spanish languages in Bixby 2.0. We found this by enabling a hidden debug menu.
Samsung's Bixby was just updated with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Bixby 2.0 was launched with few user-facing updates besides a new UI and some new integrations. There were a lot of back-end updates that were included in Bixby 2.0, though, including Viv and a new framework. This new framework includes a few new languages that will be supported soon. SamMobile reported earlier that Samsung will soon add support for German. We were able to confirm that German language support is in the works along with a few other languages.
Samsung Galaxy S10 may have HDR10+ video recording, 1080p Super Slow Motion, Best Shot, and more
The Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones will get some awesome new camera features according to our teardown of the Samsung Camera app.
Samsung, like many other smartphone manufacturers, tends to spill the beans about their latest software features before they officially unveil them. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's camera APK in the Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9 release had strings about the Samsung Galaxy S9's new Intelligent Scan feature. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4's leaked firmware had evidence pointing towards the Bluetooth LE S Pen in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Even the Samsung Galaxy Note 9's Android Pie-based One UI software had evidence pointing towards a new Bright Night camera mode for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Now, we have discovered evidence for new camera features that Samsung may unveil for the upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphones. These features include Full-HD Super Slow Motion, Best Shot, HDR10+ video recording, Flaw Detection improvements, Super Steady video recording, and Scene Optimizer with Ultra Wide Angle support.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Review - Proof That Xiaomi Can Do Premium, Too
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was released with a slider camera, giving it a bezel-less design. Does Xiaomi's smartphone have what it takes to compete with the best?
Let me just get this off my chest: The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the coolest looking smartphone that Xiaomi currently sells, and quite possibly the best-designed smartphone on the market. While the previous generation Mi Mix 2S also has the Mi Mix line-up's signature ceramic back and nearly bezel-less front display, the Mi Mix 3 takes everything that made the Mi Mix 2S look great and turns it up a notch (without actually having a notch). The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has even less bezel than the Mi Mix 2S because Xiaomi was able to trim down the bezel even further by moving the camera from the bottom to behind the display—you have to slide the display down to expose the front cameras! Although it launched in late 2018, the Mi Mix 3 embodies 1 of 3 smartphone design trends we expect to see throughout 2019. How well does the first smartphone sold internationally with a slider design fare? We find out in our Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 review.
One UI update quietly blocks Substratum/Swift Installer on the Samsung Galaxy S8/Galaxy Note 8
The One UI beta update (Android 9 Pie) for the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 has quietly blocked Substratum/Swift Installer theming.
Back when the first Android P Developer Preview was first released, there was a lot of controversy among enthusiasts about the latest version blocking custom overlays (themes) from being installed. Enthusiasts hoped that this was a bug but, it was confirmed by Google to be a security measure. Since the code responsible for blocking custom overlays is part of AOSP, the Android Pie builds that OEMs have released should also eventually have these patches. Oddly, the One UI (Android Pie) beta and stable updates for the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 does not have this restriction in place. For some reason, however, the beta One UI builds for the Snapdragon and Exynos Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 have this restriction in place, blocking users from installing custom overlays from apps like Substratum or Swift Installer.

Xposed Framework gets unofficially ported for Android Pie: Install at your own risk
The popular Xposed Framework has been ported unofficially by some developers to work on Android Pie devices rooted with Magisk.
The Xposed Framework is a great tool for modding your Android smartphone or tablet. The framework hooks into ART (the Android runtime) and lets apps, called Xposed Modules, execute their own methods before, during, or in place of the original methods of the target application. Xposed Modules, therefore, can modify much more than Magisk Modules can, because Magisk Modules simply replace the target file. The official developer of the project, XDA Senior Recognized Developer rovo89, has yet to announce if he has any plans to support the Xposed Framework on Android 9 Pie. Since the official project is open source, however, third-party developers have taken it upon themselves to port Xposed to any Android Pie device rooted with Magisk.

Get the OnePlus Launcher with its recent apps interface on any Android Pie device [Root]
A modified version of the OnePlus Launcher is now available for any rooted Android Pie device, and it even has a working recent apps provider!
Just a few days ago, the team behind the Lawnchair launcher app released QuickSwitch, a Magisk Module that allows for rooted Android Pie users to change the recent app overview provider from the default implementation to a supported third-party launcher. Of course, Lawnchair itself is compatible with this module, but a developer has modified the stock OnePlus Launcher as found on the OxygenOS 9 builds for the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T to be compatible with QuickSwitch.
