XDA's 10 Post Rule

On XDA, our main focus is and always will be to foster open development for our mobile devices. With that in mind, the development sub-sections found for every device on XDA are where all of the development activity happens: it's where developers post ROMs, radios, and root instructions. It's also where XDA members can provide constructive feedback to the developers that generously provide their work, for free, to everyone.

SassiBoB reviews Wifi Kill, an app that was banned from the android market. Despite this app's controversy she addresses some concerns of users in the comments on the thread, and gives her opinion on why apps like this are so important to Android. This app is by the developer bponury, and you can download the app free from the thread on XDA linked below. Original article by egzthunder1. Click on for the video!

In today's episode of XDA TV, Sam takes you through the steps required to S-OFF, root, and flash a custom ROM on your Desire HD, as quickly and simply as he possibly can. Click on to check out the video, plus specific steps if you prefer the text.

For a while now, we've been working on a premium version of the extremely popular XDA Android App (which has been downloaded half a million times). The premium version, now on sale for just $0.99, removes the ads, plus brings the following enhancements that the free app does not have:

At XDA, we have a large number of users that work tirelessly to provide the community with great ROMs, software, advice, and support, and they often do it asking nothing in return except for the occasional donation. Often times it's reasonable to add a "thanks" in a reply if someone did great work. Trouble is, posts that say "thanks" can quickly clog up a thread and detract from the more in-depth conversation that is going on.

Today is a big day for the XDA-Developers community. We’re officially launching our first sister site, iPhone-Developers.com. We created this site because many members requested to have an iPhone section on XDA, and we wanted to oblige these requests in some way. But instead of putting iPhone development within the XDA forums, we decided to launch a separate site with a separate server and a separate admin (that’s Arbre), ensuring that we don’t clutter XDA (we know the forum index is already long enough!) or slow the site due to increased traffic.

Do you find yourself obsessively installing to ROMs to your device on a weekly, daily, or even hourly basis? If so, you may have Obsessive-ROM Updating Disorder, or ORD for short. ORD sufferers often will deny their condition at first, justifying that they flash simply to make for a better-performing device. Then, the flashing becomes more frequent, and soon goes out of control. egzthunder1 has started a thread for those of you showing early signs of ORD. hilaireg gives his account:

Whether you like the iPhone or not, the application icons do look great, as they all have the same squared shape with rounded corners and a nice gloss effect. So, xda-member bluemetalaxe has created a nice set of iPhone-style icons, consisting of 469 individual, hand-made icons, thus covering most of the more popular apps.
