Blokada Review

Blokada Review

Blokada is a powerful Android app that blocks ads, trackers, malware and more. The Blokaka project was started in 2016 by developers Karol Gusak. The goal was to help Android users block intrusive ads and trackers that suck up your data and invade your privacy. This project started right here on XDA and quickly grew to one of the most popular ad-blocking Android apps.

Today Blokaka continues to be a powerful and effective ad-block solution. New features have made their way onto the app like a VPN service, DNS, and app control.

Blokada is very popular among Android TV users, with its ability to block the ads that are common with streaming services. The app will work on any device that runs android. Blokada is updated frequently by its dedicated developers.

Blokada is very effective in blocking ads on Android. It uses a VPN to filter out all of the ad trackers and stop them from displaying on your phone. The app I easy to use and has many features that can be used to customize your experience. Considering how effective Blokada is, it’s surprising that you can start using the app for free and without having to set up any sort of an account. This is such a rare thing to find in apps today, and Blokada keeps everything simple and easy to use.

The Blakada app is effective at blocking ads on YouTube, Twitter, Chrome, Facebook, TikTok, and in-app ads in games. You can choose to have ads exempt from the ad-block, as sometimes disabling ads can stop some apps from working properly. You can also create a whitelist of websites that you want to pass through the ad-block. It can all be controlled easily through the app.

Is Blokada Safe?

You might be wondering if it is safe to do this. Blokada is an ad-block app that disables intrusive ads on your Android device. To get the app for your phone, you’ll have to download and sideload the APK file. This means you’ll be installing an app outside of the Google play store, which sometimes has security risks. Use the installation instructions below, and you’ll be able to safely install Blokada without risking the security of your device. Make sure you download the Blokada APK from the official website.

How to Install the Official APK

By default, Android will block the installation of non-Play store APKs. They do this to prevent any malicious apps from being installed under your nose. So first we will tell android to allow apps from unknown sources. To do this, go to Settings > Security > Unknown sources

Next, you’ll want to download the latest version APK and install it like normal.

Now you should have successfully installed Blokada from the APK on their website.

How to Activate Ad-Block

When you launch Bloakada for the first time, you’ll be greeted with the main screen that shows a power button icon. When you select this, you’ll activate the ad-block service.

A notification will pop up with the following message:

VPN Connection Request

Select “ok” and the ad-block service will begin. At the bottom of the home screen, you’ll be able to keep track of how many ads have been blocked successfully. You’ll be surprised at how many background connections your device makes on just about any website.

How to Whitelist Websites

Once you have your ad-block VPN service enabled, you might want to whitelist some websites. This means your selected websites will not use the ad-block, and you will see them as they’re intended.

To manage your whitelist, select the “blocked” menu from the main page. You should now see an option that says “Allowed Hosts”. There is where you’re going to submit an entry to be whitelisted.

Blokada Whitelist

Adding a website to the whitelist is easy. Just select “add a new host to the allowed list” and type in the URL of the website. Then you’ll give it a nickname, and you’ll complete the submission. Now when you visit that website, the ads will not be blocked.
