[Discussion] What are your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy S10 devices?

After months of anticipation and waiting, Samsung finally revealed the Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+. We’re still digging through these devices and finding tidbits of information. At this point, it’s a tradition for Samsung to release the S series of smartphones in late February. Unlike the last two or three years, we didn’t see just a spec bump for the sake of changing something. In my humble opinion, all three of Galaxy S10 devices are part of a very different and important approach Samsung is taking on the smartphone industry. Unsurprisingly, they cost a lot, with prices starting from $750 on the most “budget” option. Let’s do a quick overview.

First, I want to go through the specifications that are present on all three devices. First one is Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9820 system-on-chips for different regions. Both of them are the latest and greatest. Then comes the HDR10+ display color palette, making their screens so nice to look at. The presence of a good old 3.5mm headphone jack is also worth mentioning. All three of the devices are secured with IP68 water and dust resistance certificates, making them less risky to use. For the first time ever, these devices can now act like wireless chargers, which is a convenient feature to charge some of your accessories like newly released Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch Active.

The most different and surprising addition to the family is the Samsung Galaxy S10e. While making some obvious compromises here and there, it still keeps the original values of the bigger Galaxy S10 devices. Samsung Galaxy S10e features a 5.8-inch FHD+ flat Dynamic AMOLED display at 19:9 aspect ratio, 6/8 GB of RAM, 128/256 GB of internal storage options, and a microSD card support. On the front, the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 share the exact same camera, with 10MP Super Speed Dual Pixel Auto-Focus and f/1.9 aperture. On the back, you’ll see the dual-camera system with wide-angle and ultra-wide configurations. Probably the biggest difference compared to the big brothers is that Galaxy S10e has a fingerprint scanner on the right side of the phone, instead of in the display.

Then comes the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. They feature 6.1-inch and 6.3-inch QHD+ curved Dynamic AMOLED displays. These two have three cameras on the back, with the third additional one being a telephoto lens with 12MP size and auto-focus capabilities at f/2.4 aperture. The Galaxy S10+ also has an extra camera up front. The Galaxy S10 has a max 512GB internal storage option while the Plus goes up to 1TB. RAM options are from 8 to 12GB. The larger models have the new unique ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner with a heart rate sensor.

The Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ are available for pre-order now and will be on sale in stores March 8th. So, the question is, which one of the models do you like the most? Or do you not care about any of them? Are you going to buy any of these models? Let’s have a discussion in the comments!
