Display Your Contacts in Style with Contact HD Widgets
Using contact apps and widgets isn’t only a great way to have all your most commonly used contacts organized in a single, easy to access location. Rather, these tools can also become an interesting part of your theme and overall UI experience. More often than not, contact widgets are either small pictures that can trigger a single function (e.g. place a call), or they can take the form of a predefined grid of contacts with flagged favorites. However, people do have other contacts aside from those stored in their devices and Google accounts. What if you could mix and match those contacts on your home screen? And better yet, what if you could make individual or group contacts look unique, allowing you to define a new style for your device?
XDA Forum Member cempo brings us Contact HD Widgets, which is an app that, much as its name states, allows you to create various types of widgets based your contacts in different apps such as Facebook, Google, etc. The widgets are not only different in terms of eye candy factors such as shapes and sizes (goodbye square, 1×1 pictures), but they also differ in functionality. For instance, some of the widget types allow the user to send a SMS from within the widget, without having to open another app. Widgets can also be organized by type, in folders that also happen to look and feel quite differently from regular Android folders, and the can even be used as lock screen widgets.
The app is under active development, and it is being improved almost daily with new designs and features. Take it for a spin and report any bugs that you may come across, so that the devs can take care of them. What are you waiting for? It’s time to spruce up your device with a brand new look!
