Earlier today, Google debuted a new version of the Google Recorder app on the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5. Version 2.0 of the audio recording app brings a couple of useful new features to help users easily find, edit, and share recordings. These include a new Smart Scrolling feature that automatically finds important keywords in a transcript and highlights them next to the scrollbar to help users easily jump to an important section, an Audio Editing feature to help users edit voice recordings by editing the transcript, a feature that creates short video clips out of saved recordings for easier sharing, and text correction support. These features are only available on the latest Google Recorder update on the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 at the moment, but you don't have to wait to try them out on your current Pixel device. We can also confirm that this APK surprisingly works on some non-Pixel devices, but your mileage may vary.

We've extracted the Google Recorder 2.0 APKs from the Pixel 5 since the phone's review embargo just lifted, so you should be able to install them on older Pixel devices that support the Recorder app. That includes the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 4a. To try these features on your device, simply download the .apks file from the link below and install it on your device using the Split APKs Installer app.

Download Google Recorder 2.0

After you download and install the SAI app from Google Play, open it up and tap "Install APKs" at the bottom. Navigate to where you downloaded the Google Recorder .apks file and select it. After a few seconds, you should see a prompt to install the update. We were able to install this bundle on our Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3 XL, and Pixel 4 running the latest stable Android 11 update, but your mileage may vary. Shortly after publishing this article, we learned this APK can be installed on non-Pixel devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Microsoft Surface Duo, LG V40 ThinQ, and LG Velvet. We don't know if it'll work on every non-Pixel device out there, but give it a shot and let us know if it works for you!
