[Update: Stable rolling out] EMUI 9 beta testing begins for the Honor 8 Pro

Update 1 (4/16/19 @ 2:26 PM ET): After kicking off the beta in February, the EMUI 9 stable update is now rolling out to the Honor 8 Pro. Changelog below.

Huawei, as well as its sub-brand Honor, used to not have a good track record when it came to releasing timely software updates for their older smartphones. However, things seem to be picking up pace with the Android Pie-based EMUI 9 releases, and now Honor is inviting users to preview the software on one of their older flagships. After the Honor View 10, Honor 9, and Honor 8X, it’s update time for another, relatively older, device from the company.

Now, Huawei has invited beta testers to evaluate EMUI 9.0 on Honor 8 Pro. EMUI 9.0 is the latest version of EMUI that’s based on Android Pie. To enroll for the beta testing, you must download an APK file and install it.

Once you install the app, follow these steps:

After installing the update, you will also be able to report any bugs in the beta ROM using the same app itself.

Meanwhile, you can check this list and see if your Huawei or Honor device will be eligible for an Android Pie update in the near future.
