Google Assistant Gets a Male Voice, Live on Phones and Google Home

Google Assistant has been answering questions and assisting Android and Google Home users, but since its release last year that has been always in a female voice. Thankfully those looking for a male voice alternative now have the option to select one. The new male voice can be found in the preferences page of the Google Home app, specifically under the Assistant Voice option within the Google Assistant or Google Home settings. You’ll find the male voice listed as Voice II. NVIDIA SHIELD owners, having recently received Google Assistant, do not appear to have the option yet to select this.

As XDA's PC Hardware Editor, we continue to take a look at how developers can best take advantage of the hardware offerings in the market. Our focus remains on Linux and relevant discussion for developers; but we also will take time to look at other components as many of our developers use these systems for many other reasons.I continue to offer coverage on mobile and other technology relevant to our audience, especially as PC and mobile hardware lines begin to blur. I also have a tendency to refer to my career and experiences as relevant to our discussions on XDA.
