Google's daily Doodle has been a staple feature of the main Google homepage. These doodles alter the Google logo innovatively to commemorate events, achievements or historical figures. Doodles have gone from being very simple images to now being animated and interactive, and have gone up in frequency as well. Unfortunately, as Google has made it easier for Android users to access its search function from multiple sources, the main Google homepage and even the results page is now less frequently visited and the simplistic brilliance of these doodles is often lost.
To counter this, and to make the standard Google Search widget a tad bit less boring than the white bar it currently is, Google is now adding in the Google Doodle on the search bar. The Doodle is animated, showing a flower pop up next to the Google "G" logo and then disappear. This Doodle commemorates the Spring Equinox.
The Doodle is showing up for some users only, and not for all as of now. If it doesn't appear for you, press and hold on the search bar, navigate to the "Preferences" option and toggle "Special Searchbox Effects" off and then on again -- this worked for some users, and it might for you too. It is currently unknown if the Doodle on the Search widget will change daily in conjunction with the day's Doodle.
