Google Phone v26 rolling out with dark theme support

Google Phone v26 rolling out with dark theme support

To the delight of many, Google has been adding dark theme support to a slew of apps. We’ve already seen it in Android Messages, YouTube, Google News, Google Contacts, and even Google Maps. The Google Phone app has been on deck to receive a dark mode for a while now and it seems to finally be here in version 26.

It was possible to enable the dark theme in Google Phone version 25 with root or a modded APK. Now, the update makes the feature official. The “Dark Theme” toggle can be found in Settings > Display options. The theme looks like Google’s other dark themes: dark grey with white text. It’s a good look and further transitions all of Google apps to a dark theme. Google recently admitted dark themes are better for displays and battery life.

You can download version 26 of Google Phone right now from APKMirror. This is a beta release, so you can opt-in to receive it in the Play Store as well. If you have a Pixel and you have dark mode enabled in the system settings, Google Phone will automatically use the dark theme and you can’t toggle it off.
