Yet another Google Pixel 4 leak corroborates the 90Hz display and shows Face Unlock

Yet another Google Pixel 4 leak corroborates the 90Hz display and shows Face Unlock

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Pixel 4 has been leaking a lot lately. After a relatively quiet few months, the floodgates opened recently and we’ve been bombarded with leaked photos, videos, and information about upcoming features. We even have a rumored launch date now. The latest leak gives us a look at Google’s Face Unlock setup screen and corroborates some display details for the Pixel 4 XL.

These photos of the Pixel 4 XL were posted to Weibo and they’re in Chinese, so some of the translation may be a bit off. The first photo shows what appears to be the first screen in the Face Unlock setup process. The screen mentions that you can wear “glasses or light sunglasses.” It then says all the biometric data used by Face Unlock will be “safely stored” locally and can be deleted by the user at any time.

The rest of the details are a bit difficult to translate, but there’s something about eye movement and family members that look like you being able to unlock your phone. The eye movement detail is most likely something about detecting a real face rather than a photograph.

The next leaked photo shows off the Security settings and the most interesting thing to note here is the lack of fingerprint as an option. We haven’t seen a fingerprint scanner in any of the leaks and there has been no mention of an in-display scanner either. Google appears to be going all-in with Face Unlock.

Lastly, we can see a photo of the Pixel 4 XL’s device information, which corroborates several of the previous rumors. The 90Hz refresh rate is shown once again. The image also lists 3040 x 1440 resolution, 540 ppi, 6.23-inches, and 19:9 aspect ratio. Once again, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 6GB of RAM are present.

At this point, we have a super clear idea of what the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL have to offer. There’s always the chance that Google will surprise us with something else, but there will likely be many more leaks as we head into October.
