We've been tracking the Pixel 4a since the end of 2019 and we're finally getting close to the official announcement. We first spotted the "Sunfish" codename for the Pixel 4a in February, but the leaks really started pouring in when the device showed up in a hands-on video in March. It's now looking like the Pixel 4a could finally be announced next month.

It was widely assumed the Pixel 4a would still be announced at the time of Google I/O, which would have been this week. However, according to a new report, the information from Vodafone's database, the launch has been delayed. The device was originally listed with a launch date of May 22nd, but it was later reset. The launch date is now listed as June 5th.

Caschys Blog speculates that this delay could be to announce the phone during the Android 11 Beta Launch Show, which just happens to be on June 3rd. This is purely speculation, but it does make a lot of sense. Google's teaser for the event mentions revealing "a whole bunch of other stuff we're not ready to tell you about yet" and "Let's hope that doesn't leak."

Of course, it's entirely possible that Google will simply send out a press release any day now and announce the phone. The delay in Vodafone's system could be only for the European launch. Google typically launches products on the same day internationally, but you never know. Regardless, we should be seeing the Pixel 4a very soon.
