Design and Display

Google Pixel 6 Pro

While both the Pixel 6 Pro and the X70 Pro+ have a glass sandwich design, Vivo has given the rear glass panel a Fluorite treatment, which provides it with a subtle texture and matte finish. In addition, a big chunk of the X70 Pro+ rear panel has been taken by its camera setup. That said, the Pixel 6 Pro isn’t very different in that aspect, and its horizontal camera bar also takes up a decent amount of space on the back. You have to contend with chunky camera islands for sure on both, but the Pixel 6 Pro's visor-look has its own fans.

The fronts of the two phones are pretty standard, and you get centered hole-punch cutouts for the selfie camera. The Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.71-inch screen, whereas the Vivo phone packs a 6.78-inch display. Both phones have an AMOLED panel and carry a 1440p resolution.

The two phones also weigh almost the same and have essentially the same overall footprint.

Processor, RAM, and Storage

Vivo X70 Pro Plus

Their SoC is the first significant difference between the Pixel 6 Pro and the X70 Pro+. While Google uses its own Tensor chip, Vivo has gone with Snapdragon 888+, the latest flagship chip from Qualcomm.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 888+, the X70 Pro+ provides excellent performance, and you’ll have no complaints in any department. Google’s Tensor is also a flagship-grade chip, and it excels in pretty much every aspect except high-end graphics-intensive gaming. That said, if you don’t play a lot of gaming or mostly deal with casual games, you will have no qualms about the Tensor chip.

In terms of RAM and storage, the Google phone has 12GB of RAM and comes in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants. On the other hand, the Vivo phone is available in 8GB and 12GB RAM options as well as 256GB or 512GB storage. Unfortunately, there is no storage expansion slot on either of the phones.

Google Pixel 6 Pro vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus: Cameras

Pixel 6 Pro and Vivo X70 Pro Plus

Cameras are the most talked-about parts of the Pixel 6 Pro and the Vivo X70 Pro+. You get three rear cameras on the Pixel 6 Pro —a 50MP primary shooter, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide shooter. On the other hand, the Vivo phone features four cameras on the back—a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP telephoto camera, another 12MP telephoto shooter, and a 48MP wide-angle camera.

Google Pixel phones have proven time and again that they can take amazing photos, and the Pixel 6 Pro is no exception. Google’s computational photography prowess shows in every photo the phone takes. So whether it’s daytime or night, Pixel 6 Pro’s primary camera takes excellent shots. The wide-angle shooter is a little underwhelming, but the phone’s telephoto camera is a star.

The Vivo X70 Pro+ is also a terrific camera phone, and it’s able to hold its own against the Pixel 6 Pro. The phone takes excellent photos in both standard and low-light situations. In addition, the gimbal-stabilization included with the wide-angle shooter helps a lot while taking videos, and there is support for 8K video recording on the primary camera.

Battery, Connectivity, and Software

Vivo X70 Pro+ Cameras

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery, whereas you get a 4,500mAh battery on the Vivo X70 Pro+. The additional battery capacity in the Pixel helps the phone easily last through one day on heavy usage, and if you are a moderate user, you may even get one and a half days of battery life.

The Vivo phone, on the other hand, only lasts about a day on a single charge. But the phone supports 55W fast charging, which is much quicker than about 23W fast charging that you can achieve on the Pixel. The X70 Pro+ also has much quicker wireless charging at 50W.

In terms of the connectivity options, the Pixel 6 Pro supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G and comes with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. On the other hand, the Vivo X70 Pro+ supports sub-6GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.

The Pixel 6 Pro gets the Google advantage on the software front, and the phone runs on Android 12 out of the box. It’ll also receive three years of OS updates and five years of security patches. The Vivo X70 Pro+ runs on Android 11 with Funtouch OS 12. But, again, it is expected to get three years of OS updates.

Pricing and Color Options

Pixel 6 Pro back

As there is no market where both the Pixel 6 Pro and the X70 Pro+ are available, we’ll use the US price of the Pixel and the India price of the X70 Pro+ to compare these phones. The Pixel 6 Pro is priced at $899 for the base 12GB + 128GB model. Its 12GBV + 256GB model retails at $999, whereas the 12GB+256GB model of the X70 Pro+ costs Rs. 79,990 (~$1059). So there isn’t a huge difference in the price of the two phones.

Coming to colors, you can buy the Pixel 6 Pro in Stormy Black, Cloudy White, and Sorta Sunny colors. The Vivo phone is sold in Black, Blue, and Orange.

Google Pixel 6 Pro vs Vivo X70 Pro Plus: Conclusion

Pixel 6 Pro and Vivo X70 Pro+

Thanks to the Vivo phone’s excellent camera and overall performance, it’s a solid competitor to the Pixel 6 Pro. The only areas where the Vivo phone falls behind are software and the battery capacity. But the Pixel 6 Pro is not without its issues. The phone’s fast charging speed leaves a lot to be desired, and the Tensor chip isn’t the best for hardcore gaming. So picking between the two comes down to whether you want a better gaming experience or software. So pick the Pixel for software and Vivo for gaming.
