A system-wide dark mode has been one of the most requested features on Android for quite a while. Google finally delivered with the first stable rollout of Android 10, pushing a new darker theme for the operating system. The company also rolled out individual dark mode toggles for many of its apps, including Google Keep, Files, Photos, Duo and more. This has prompted several developers to add a dark theme on their Android app, with Facebook’s Instagram jumping on the bandwagon most recently. Now, Google Tasks, Google Voice, and Shazam are also receiving a dark theme toggle in their latest updates.

Google Tasks

The dark mode option for Google Tasks appears in version 1.7.266785605 of the app. The new Theme setting appears towards the bottom of the three-dot context menu within the app and you get the option to choose between three options. You can either use a dark or light theme by default, or you can select the System default option and the app will automatically pick up the system theme you’re currently using.

Google Voice

As reported by DroidLife, the dark mode is also making its way to Google Voice in version 2019.40.273569721 of the app. The option can be found towards the bottom of the app’s settings and here as well, you get the option to choose from three different options – light, dark, and based on system settings.

Finally, according to a recent report from Android Police, Shazam is the latest third-party app to roll out a dark mode. The option appears in version 10.1.1-191010 of the app and it has the same three options as the aforementioned apps. You can either choose to manually pick a dark or a light look, or you can let the system default govern the look of the app.

However, it’s worth noting that the dark theme toggle on Shazam is also available to users who don’t have an Android 10 device. In such a case, users will get the option to manually switch between the dark and light themes, or allow it to change based on the battery saver. If you haven’t received the option on your phone, make sure you update to the latest version of the app from the Play Store.
