Google appears to be testing a slick new weather tile design on Wear OS smartwatches.

An image of the new design was shared on Reddit's /r/WearOS subreddit by user ThatCC. The new UI is very minimal, making it really easy to understand at a glance. It features a glyph of the current weather, the temperature, and your location. Below that, you’ll see the high and low temperatures for the day.

While the new design is quite pleasing to look at, it does sacrifice useful data such as an hourly forecast and day-by-day forecast. Whether you prefer a more minimal design over something more information-dense comes down to personal preference. It’s unclear if users can tweak the tile’s look to be more like the old one.

In the Reddit thread, reactions to the new design seem mixed. Some people really like the more minimal look, while others are lamenting the loss of information at-a-glance. According to ThatCC, the new weather tile design showed up on their Fossil Sport, so perhaps owners of that watch will have luck seeing the new look. Google appears to be rolling it out as a test and may bring it to more Wear OS users in the near future.
