Honor 8, Huawei P9, Huawei Mate 8, and more receive Android Oreo with EMUI 8

Huawei is one of the few companies that consistently update their devices and fight to fix the state of the Android fragmentation. The list of Huawei and Honor devices which will get Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 was announced back in January. Today, Huawei keeping their promise and making Android Oreo-based EMUI 8 available those 7 devices. It is worth noting that these devices received an Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 beta update in China back in May. These devices include the Honor 8, Huawei P9, Huawei Mate 8, and more. The full list is below:

  • Huawei Mate 8
  • Huawei P9
  • Huawei P9 Plus
  • Honor 8
  • Honor V8
  • Honor Note 8
  • Honor Play 6X

As quoted by GizmoChina, the update will roll out every day from 10 AM starting July 9 to 15. This update is considered stable, but it still will be rolling out in batches for the time being. Only 5,000 units of each device will receive this update over the week. As of now, a total of 20 Huawei devices have been updated to Android Oreo. The addition of these 7 devices to that roster is definitely welcome news and we hope that Huawei will continue their approach.

You can download the update using the membership app available on your Huawei device. The update isn’t yet available in other regions, so keep an eye out on the Huawei Firmware Finder app for when the update reaches your device. As I already mentioned, this update is considered stable, so you shouldn’t be afraid of bugs.
