Huawei’s sub-brand Honor announced that the company sold over a million smartphones during the Diwali festive season sale across the major Indian online stores namely Flipkart and Amazon.in, as well as Honor’s own online store. This allowed the company to touch a year-on-year growth of 300% during the Diwali season, as compared to 2017.

Honor’s mid-range offerings like the Honor 9N and the Honor 8X were star products on Flipkart Big Billion Days sale and Amazon Great Indian Festival sale respectively in their own product categories. To capitalize on the festive season rush, Honor had made its smartphones available at special discounted prices for the Diwali season sales. Even though the sales have concluded, the discounted offers on its best-selling smartphones on Flipkart till stocks last.

The record-breaking sales are a true testament of our efforts in creating the best offerings for our users and we hope to deliver by exceeding expectations in our future endeavours.

The rising popularity of the Honor sub-brand in the budget and early mid-range segment has created further competition in an already-overpopulated space in the Indian market. More competition is always a good thing, and Honor’s presence keeps the pressure mounted on leading entities like Xiaomi and ensures the rest of the competition like Oppo, Vivo and Samsung continue to remain on their toes to retain their market presence in the segment. So while a Honor device may not exactly be the first-choice for a reader on XDA-Developers, thanks to Huawei’s infamous decision to stop allowing bootloader unlocks (though Honor did briefly re-open bootloader unlocking on a limited trial basis for XDA users), their existence in the market ensures a healthy competition.

Note: Huawei has stopped providing official bootloader unlock codes for its devices. Therefore, the bootloader of the Honor 8X cannot be unlocked, which means that users cannot flash Magisk/TWRP/custom ROMs.
