HTC Announces their take on VR, the HTC Vive

Virtual Reality technology has been growing at a rapid pace as of late, in a movement that began with the Oculus Rift and accelerated by Google’s extremely affordable Cardboard, with many other companies including Samsung also jumping on board. Today, at their “Utopia In Progress” event, HTC announced their entry into the VR space with grandeur.

In a groundbreaking partnership with the popular gaming company Valve, HTC aims to deliver an immersive virtual reality solution with limitless possibilities, in the form of the HTC Vive. The high fidelity headset is incredibly light, and packs an array of sensors for wireless control, hand tracking and movement detection at room scale, the essence of it being an out-of-body, surreal experience.

The device is available in limited quantities for now at select HTC locations across the world, and is set to become a consumer product by the end of the year. Run-of-the-mill product, or VR revolution? Let us know in the comments below!
