During The HTC Utopia In Progress event, HTC discussed their work with the speakers of the M9. With Boomsound integration they aim to bring a “first class audio experience,” featuring speakers similar to that of the previous HTC M8 model. As Graham Wheeler (Director of products, EMEA) and Aaron Baker  (Senior Manager, Global Social Media) put it, “people are always listening to music on their phones, its an important part of the phone… You watch videos, you listen to music, why would you have speakers on the back of the device? On the front is where it’s at. You point the phone towards your face.”
Even the headphone jack is said to deliver quality audio, as they have worked to put a lot of processing in to the sound alone. They will be working closely with Dolby to deliver the 5.1 surround sound, aiming to make sound far more immersive and richer.

With the new airplay feature developed in conjuction with Harman Kardon they allow you to group speakers together from around your home, streaming to them simultaneously from your phone with just a three fingered swipe upwards.
