Amazfit GTS smartwatch from Huami is an Apple Watch clone
Huami is one of the largest wearable device company in the world, claiming a global market share of over 17% through its product lineups under the Amazfit brand. Huami is also the exclusive provider of wearable technology for Xiaomi, one of its investors, and is also the manufacturer of the Mi Band lineup. At an event in China, Huami has announced three new smartwatches under the Amazfit lineup: the Amazfit GTS, Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 and the Amazfit X Concept Watch.
The Huami Amazfit GTS has an immediately familiar design, reminiscent largely of the Apple Watch. The Amazfit GTS features a rectangular, 1.65-inch AMOLED display with a 348 x 442 resolution, 341 ppi pixel density, and 100% NTSC color gamut. The main watch module is made out of “aviation-grade” aluminum alloy, which has a 9.4mm thickness and a weight of 24.8g. The Amazfit GTS also comes with 5ATM waterproofing. It also features NFC and comes with BioTracker PPG for 24-hour heart rate monitoring. This watch is priced at CNY 899 (~$125) and is available to pre-book in China.
Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3
Unlike the previous watch, the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 has a better individualistic identity that unapologetically looks like a sports watch with a round display. This Sports Watch comes with function modes: the “Intelligent” mode provides full watch performance and a claimed battery life of 7 days; and an “Ultra” mode that that restricts certain functionality to offer a claimed battery life of 14 days. You can expect the watch to perform all the functions that a smartwatch should, including 24-hour heart rate monitoring through BioTracker PPG. The watch also features NFC, support for GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo, and support for 5 ATM waterproofing. The standard variant of the watch will cost CNY 1,299 (~$182), while the “elite” version will cost CNY 1,699 (~$237) thanks to its titanium bezels and buttons and sapphire glass display. The watch is available for pre-order in China.
While the other two watches released by Huami are real products, the Amazfit X is a smartwatch concept that is under development. The Amazfit X will come with a 2.07-inch flexible curved AMOLED display with a 326 ppi pixel density, 100% NTSC color gamut and 430 nits of brightness, and a 220 mAh battery for 7 days worth of battery life. This watch is expected to be released within the first half of 2020.
